6 ideas for your salon’s Christmas marketing campaign

Christmas is well on its merry way, which means the busiest time of year for hair and beauty salons is right around the corner. An effective Christmas marketing campaign can be that extra push your salon needs to really make the most of this time of year – making sure that your salon stands out from the crowd, and your chairs are full throughout the season. 1. Define some Christmas marketing goals for your salon during the holiday season

Often, the main goal of any beauty salon is to increase bookings – this is a given. But, it’s important that you also take into account other key aspects and ambitions of your business, such as: improving your salon’s branding and image, increasing the loyalty of your clients, and attracting new clients. All of these goals can be influenced by your Christmas campaigns.

Whether you focus on just one, a couple, or all of these aspects – it’s important to have clear, set goals that you’d like to achieve. For example, how many new clients have taken advantage of a certain promotion; how many new followers you’ve gained from a social media post; or how many existing clients have been encouraged to make a new booking following a marketing email. This will help you when planning and tracking the success of your campaigns.

2. Decorate your salon for Christmas

Decorating your salon is a great way to kick off your marketing efforts, draw attention to your salon, and get your staff and clients into the Christmas spirit. As well as physical decorations, you can also add a few subtle changes to your online presence to add a Christmas theme. For example, change your profile picture on your social media and add some festive elements to your website. 3. Get into the giving spirit

Christmas is a time for giving. It’s been a tough year for many, so if you are able to, it can be a nice opportunity to give back a little this Christmas to the project of your choice. Whether that’s support for a food bank, homeless shelter, help for the elderly, animal protection – truly, the list goes on when it comes to causes that could use a little help during the Christmas season.

Again, only if you have the facilities and capacity, consider a charitable donation – perhaps by donating a percentage of profits during a certain time period, or on a certain service. This way, you’ll be doing something beautiful whilst also encouraging bookings or sales.

The most important thing when it comes to charitable donations is that you’re completely transparent. Your clients should feel that they know exactly how and where their money is going to be spent. For example, tell them about your Christmas charity campaigns, and inform them about the background of the fundraising project through social media (or with a poster in your salon). And, at the end of the campaign, don’t forget to communicate how much money you’ve raised and, of course, thank your clients for their support.

4. Put together an advent calendar for your clients

The advent calendar is a popular Christmas campaign every year, and for good reason. To create an advent calendar of your own, just decide on a certain number of days between December 1st and December 24th on which you’d like to give gifts to your customers. Make sure to let your audience know beforehand, then randomly draw the winners of each prize on the corresponding day.

You can go about this in one of two ways:

  1. Choose winners from your social media followers (this will help to grow your social media following, and can help grow your client base).
  2. Choose winners from your existing clients (this is a great way of encouraging client loyalty, and thanking your clients for their support).

Either way, you can announce the winners via social media channels such as Instagram – which will draw attention to your salon and improve your salon image. Prizes can range from specific products, like a special shampoo or face mask, to discounts on specific services, such as balayage or a manicure. Of course, you should save the best prize for Christmas Eve.

5. Promote your salon’s Instagram account at Christmas
