I usually go into town to get my Hollywood wax but decided to go somewhere more local to home this time which was also a bit cheaper. Firstly on the morning of the appointment I was sent a text asking for me to change my appointment at a later time to which I replied I couldn’t as it would impact a second appointment I had booked after at a different salon.
When I got there the door was locked so I had to knock a few times before the lady came to open the door. Eventually when she did open the door she pointed to the front desk and handed me a form to fill out; name address, medical conditions etc. While she did this she was on the phone the whole time speaking in a different language which I thought was unusual. When I go for a treatment I would expect a better, friendlier welcome. Once I filled out the form she didn’t even read it to check for any conditions. She directed me to the room where I was going to have my wax (whilst still speaking on the phone). I asked to use the toilet before my treatment and when I went into the toilet it was dirty, no toilet roll and no hand towel either. After she asked if I had had a wax before and I said yes so she closed the door and left me to get ready for my Hollywood.
She came back two minutes later (still on the phone) and asked if I was ready, to which I loudly and
Clearly replied no yet she still came in regardless while I was in the middle of taking my trousers off! I had to ask her to leave again while I finished getting ready, so she walked off still speaking on the phone. I assumed she didn’t actually listen to what I had said as she was on the phone still and hadn’t been paying attention. Eventually she came in when I was ready and put the phone down but then started to play this music which was very loud and not relaxing in the slightest. You would expect when you are having any kind of beauty treatment, for there to be a relaxing atmosphere especially when having an intimate treatment such as a wax being done.
The actually wax its self was actually shocking;
1. She didn’t wash her hands before the treatment after being on her phone and touching things around the salon. Every wax I have had the beautician has always either washed her hands, put on gloves or done both.
2. She Double dipped one of the wooden sticks she had used to apply the wax with. Anyone who is familiar with a wax knows that you NEVER do this as it spreads the risk of infections and is quite frankly unhygienic.
3.She had NO IDEA what she was doing. When I say this was the worst experience ever I am not lying. She literally made such a fuss of the wax there was no organised way she was removing the hair. She was just putting the wax anywhere and everywhere and the worst bit was she wouldn’t even wait for it to stick down properly before pulling the wax off which meant she kept having to re-pull the wax off that didn’t come off in the first pull.
4.Her nails were incredibly long and when removing the hair in the intimate area she kept nipping that sensitive area with her long nails and even managed to cut a small area which made it bleed! This has never happened to me during a wax before and I can tell you by this point I was feeling very very uncomfortable.
5.Eventually when I asked her to put on gloves she ignored my first request. The third time you could tell she was angry but she eventually put on the gloves.
I have allot more to complain about but that was the general main issues that occurred. Overall an awful experience, shocking service, dreadful hygiene and really I shouldn’t have had to have paid £25 for something as bad as that wax. My wax was also quite patchy too.
DO NOT GO HERE.
