I LOVE my new hair!! Ahdia used Mounir’s rare specialist balayage technique, and these results are perfect! She was very knowledgeable and listened to what I wanted, gave me in depth advise and the best colour and balayage ever. The service and salon was absolute class! I will definitely be a regular visitor❤️
I had an unnecessarily upsetting experience at Ahdia’s Salon. I had booked via Treatwell and paid online (£40 for ‘wash, haircut and blowdry’). I arrived before Ahdia and her lovely colleague washed my hair and put a towel on my head. Ahdia arrived and took the towel off my head and made a face and noise of disgust. She said something to her colleague and then said to me...‘you booked online, how much did you pay’...I told her £40 which is their price for wash, cut and blow dry (all I wanted was a trim). She said ‘why didn’t you tell me you have Afro-Caribbean hair.. prices online are not for you, they are for NORMAL hair’ (I am mixed-race..I am half white, half black - irrelevant really -I have shoulder-length hair; soft curls when wet that blow-dry and straighten very easily) - by this point she had brushed my hair, and could see this for herself. I had come into the salon with straight hair. She told me the price for ‘afro’ hair is £55 - and again said ‘the prices online aren’t for you’! I told her I’m not prepared to pay that for a trim. She said ‘next time you can’t book online you have to call me and tell me you have Afro hair and it’s £55’. I was so humiliated - I actually felt a bit tearful but I’d already paid and my hair was wet. From entry to the salon, wash, one inch trim and blowdry took 40 minutes. I do understand that perhaps if I had coarse, long hair that she had not handled before then she may be apprehensive. But I had actually had a simple blow dry with her months prior and she knew my hair was very easy to blowdry. The way she spoke to me was completely inappropriate and how she can justify trying to charge me an extra £15 - being told I have to call and not book online. I most definitely will not be returning. I work as a model and have had a large number of hairdressers and makeup artists of all backgrounds handle my hair with ease and without prejudice. The professionals I have worked with do not consider my hair ‘afro-carribean’ in texture, manageability or look. To be told I cannot book online and I need to pay more because of heritage is frankly backwards. I was very polite to Ahdia and didn’t deserve to be spoken to like that. Her colleague was very friendly and chatty. Customers shouldn’t be judged incorrectly especially by someone claiming to be a professional.
