I booked and paid for a director cut but was seen by a stylist. I didn't mind being seen by a stylist at all; the lady gave me a nice haircut and the service was good, however (and the reason for the three stars) as I booked and paid for a director I would have expected to have been informed when I got there that it would be a stylist cutting my hair and given a refund for the price difference. No mention was made at all and I've ended up paying for a higher level of service than I received.
The salon is in a great corner location at the end of Charlotte Street, and is light and bright. They have a small selection of high-end magazines kept looking pristine in plastic folders - much better than a huge pile of out of date gossip rags, in my opinion. I did have to stand up and get one for myself though (some places ask if they can bring you something to read). The general approach to customer service is quite gentle: not a lot of chat or idle questions about what I had planned for the weekend. The salon was quiet (it was a Sunday afternoon) with only one other customer and just two stylists manning the shop. I was very happy with the level of consultation and with the results, but the timing for my colour treatment was a bit longer than suggested by the website (1hr20 as opposed to 1hr). It would be good to be told this from the start, My only other criticism is that the stylist's hands really smelt of tobacco/nicotine, which I was particularly conscious of when she was washing my hair.
