I had an amazing experience with Stylist, Nolan, at Andrew Jose. Not only am I incredibly happy with the haircut I left with, I have left feeling more confident and have been put at ease that I can now go to a great quality salon. After having a terrible hair cut at a previous hairdressers, I had the fear that once grown out I would be left with yet another unbalanced bad cut the next time round. This was not the case and as soon as I arrived Nolan catered to my every need, was patient, listed to what I wanted, and spent time advising me on hair styles to prevent hair damage after the appointment. I am incredibly happy and will definitely be back! High Recommended!
Unfortunately, this was the worst experience to date in a hair salon and one of the worst customer service experiences I've ever had. I felt threatened by the staff, left with a terrible haircut, and disrespected as a customer.
As background, I went in for a model haircut, and asked how much time I should book off (as it was during work hours), and they said a bit over an hour is fine for a haircut. I booked off 1.5 hours for the haircut during my lunch hour and walked over (work is around the corner).
When I got there, I let them know I had to head back to work. The haircut was nowhere to be complete at the 1.5 hour mark. I told them again that I have to head out for a meeting, at which point Lucas, the manager overseeing the haircut started telling me in a raised voice (clearly upset) that they recommend booking 3 hours for a haircut and that I was in the wrong. He apologised to Asia, the trainee, that she couldn't finish the haircut saying he had to, and literally started hacking at my hair on the other non-completed side.
As a customer or any other person receiving such a treatment,
(1) getting practically yelled at made me feel threatened, and
(2) having scissors hacking in large motions in front of your face makes you feel even more this way - plus, I was afraid at that moment speaking my mind would result in a pretty damaging haircut.
They said I should just book another appointment to get the haircut finished (I wanted layers), then proceeded to charge me for the haircut. Model haircut or not, this should not have happened if any proper customer service was being applied. To note, I have done loads of model haircuts before and generally they put someone with more experience that takes less than 1.5 hours to do a haircut, not that time to cut just one side of your head.
I walked out of the salon feeling frazzled, upset and generally extremely disrespected.

3 days later...
I did follow up after cooling down a few days later to head back to the salon and see another manager to explain the situation. He uttered the same sentiment, saying I should 'implicitly know' that model haircuts should take 3 hours (to reiterate, the salon told me to book just over an hour when calling to confirm before my appointment), and that I was in the wrong.
I highly do not recommend this hair salon to anyone looking to be treated with respect, or having a pleasant experience in general.
I never really write reviews but I really had a great experience and wanted to share it.
I have been struggling to find a salon that I like and has the whole package so to speak. A friend of mine has been seeing her stylist Rebecca for years, so when she presented me with a Gift For a Friend card that gave me 50% off I was delighted.
I can't tell you how well taken care of I was from the moment I arrived. Everyone is so friendly and I was made to feel important and valued. Even the coffee and biscuits were great! Rebecca was so lovely, down to earth and professional. She gave me the best highlights and cut I've had in years. I only paid half price on my first visit but would be more than happy to pay full price and more for the service I received. Thank you Rebecca and all the staff at Andrew Jose. I have found my new salon!
Visited this salon last week and had the worst hairdressing experience of my life. Andrew Jose was rude to me, didn’t listen to a word I said about what I wanted, went off to blow-dry someone else’s hair halfway through my haircut and didn’t even use a brush when he dried my hair. I was there for an hour and a half (for a wash, cut and blow-dry!) and I left with frizzy hair that was sticky with mousse (which I washed as soon as I got home) and a half-price voucher I threw in the bin. Absolutely awful place.
I recently bought an offer with Time Out to get a wash cut and blow dry in the Andre Jose salon. My bus broke down on the way in and so when a member of staff from the salon rang to see where I was I explained the situation and asked if it was still okay to attend the appointment, I was told it was okay and went on ahead but when I arrived, to the empty salon, I was greeted by four staff members sitting behind the reception desk with scowls on their faces. One particularly rude girl then proceeded to tell me it would be impossible to get my hair done that day, that it was really out of the question and outrageous that I had come late.
I was 20 minutes late and it is completely understandable if they were unable to cut my hair but I have never been made feel so belittled for something as simple as being delayed in all my life. If I can give anyone advise, learn from my misfortune and do not go here.
