This was a really good thorough massage. I was given the full hour, rather than (as I have experienced before in other places) taking out 10 minutes for you to change in and out of your clothes. The massage was just as it was described a deep tissue full body massage, she concentrated on parts of my body which needed extra care. I felt completely relaxed during and after the massage and would highly recommend it to everybody.
As always, I was well received and the stylist did exactly what I wanted. Itbwas a quiet and relaxing experience.
The most awkward and tense hour of my life ever. I was greeted with silence, and pointed towards the hair wash basins. There was no consultation about what I wanted just silence. I had my hair washed in silence and was then pointed to where I would be having my hair cut- the chair of doom. at this point I should have left due to how rude the hairdresser was, but I stayed. Still in absolute silence the hairdresser combed, brushed and parted my hair up to the point which I presumed he might just cut my hair without even bothering to ask what I wanted. Finally the silence was broken and I was asked what I wanted. Then the cut begun.....after dropping the comb on the floor numerous times (while we sat in complete silence) the receptionist made herself a cup of tea and got herself a magazine, I was left to twiddle my thumbs. Then we got to the fringe. I was tempted to walk out at several points, But as I had paid upfront I had to grit my teeth and hope the hair gods were watching over me. He actually told me he couldn't cut my fringe shorter- even though I actually can't see for hair in front of my eyes. So with that the appointment was over, and I told him it was the worst hairdressing experience of my life. To top it off I had to ask if he was going to put ANY product on my hair (after all isn't that the joy of getting you're hair done) and he shrugged his shoulders and I took that as a resounding no and off I went. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. Ever. Tomorrow I will be going to get my fringe trimmed...needless to say NOT here.
A great salon in a cool area, the treatment rooms are spacious and the staff lovely. Unfortunately there was a language barrier and I was not able to communicate my preferences. Also, I had booked a full body massage but only the back of my body (no head or feet) received treatment.
AVOID - Worst Brazilian Blow dry ever Alarm bells should have rung when the hairdresser, after telling me to keep it dry for two days, attempted to douse my hair with hairspray before I left! When I woke the next day, the top layer was straightish, but underneath my hair had sprung back to its normal kinks and curls; presumably she didn’t straighten the lower layers anything like enough. My scalp also felt bumpy, like sand paper – although it didn’t itch or flake. As my hair’s been washed a couple of times now, and a week later the bumpiness is starting to wear off, it seem it was just the roots of my hair were rigid, creating the odd bumpy texture. After washing, my hair instead of being straight is a tangled nest that looks like candy floss, and takes an age to de-tangle, even with lots of conditioner. Even with blow drying, my hair quickly reverts to a frizzy mess, I’ve been having Brazilian Blowdries for about five years now, generally every 5-6 months. Usually my hair is straight and well behaved enough not to need blowdrying for at least four months after a treatment. This is appalling – and I don’t want to go elsewhere to get another BB because I try to avoid the chemical treatment too often.
