The owner is horrible and NOT SAFE. He totally violates your bodily autonomy, completely disregards what you say you want and don't want, and does what he wants to do. As a woman, I feel horrible after my experience with him and want to ensure other women know this before booking with him. I gave him a second chance and he violated my boundaries again.
On my first visit, he said he'd do the haircut I want and then did something completely different to the picture I showed.
On my second visit (I only decided to return because they use slightly less toxic hair dye - FYI there's another salon in Richmond which uses a better hair dye brand called Naturalique), I came in for a root touch up only.
This guy dyed my hair black! I had been extremely clear when choosing the colour the first time that I never want black, that I want a warm brown. I only booked a root touch up so I know he knew he was going darker, because he pulled it through all the way to the ends of my hair when he first applied it (if it was the right colour he would only do the roots and then do the ends half way through the application time).
But he thinks he knows better than the client and goes against the specific instructions given. I've had experiences in hairdressers before when I don't love the haircut, that's normal and not an issue. But this is something else - to have someone say yes, and then purposely go against what you said and do something to your body (even if it's "just" your hair) is horrible. It's a violation.
I did call him afterwards to ask him why he dyed my hair black and he said he didn't, he used a number 2 which is "darkest brown." We used a mix of numbers 3 and 4 on my first visit which I noted down and he tried to tell me I was wrong. He was rude and belligerent on the phone, unwilling to offer any help to fix my hair.
Do yourself a favour and stay away.
Would really recommend this place I’ve had a haircut on Saturday and it was so good and the hair styler luli was the best he gave me the best haircut I’ve ever had in my life I really highly recommend it’s amazing definitely coming back.
I took a risk going to a new salon when visiting friends recently in London. I chose Art8 because of their reviews and because they use organic products/no chemicals. I was not disappointed! I came away with exactly the cut and colour I wanted and the atmosphere in the salon is like feeling part of a family. Joe and Luli are both lovely and great at what they do. I live in France but I'll be going to Art8 from now on with regular trips to London. Thanks guys!
I recently had the absolute pleasure of visiting Art8 for a hairstyling service, and I could not be more satisfied with my results. The hospitality, professionalism and kindness we were met with really stood out to me, the staff, especially by Joe, went above and beyond to ensure our comfort the entire time, making us feel completely taken care of. The talent and skill of Joe can also be seen in his amazing work with my hair. I couldn't be more pleased, thank you so much Joe and team for our incredible experience, I highly recommend visiting them!!
