I regularly go to Tan and Beauty for sunbeds, but as I had a job interview I decided to treat myself to a well over-due manicure!
First of all when the varnish I already had on was removed, I had to point out several areas that she had missed. My nails were then filed with a board that was too harsh, and then not with a finer one afterwards, so the edges were quite rough and a bit ragged. My cuticles were nicely sorted.
Then I was suprised that in a professional salon, 'Rimmel' nail varnish was used - I have nothing against Rimmel, but it is just the standard polish that I use at home. However this was only the base coat. I decided on a nice red coloured polish (which I think was 'Opi' - better!), which was nicely applied.
However - then the manicurist asked if I wanted a 'gel effect top coat' - great! This was gloopy, stringy, and made my nails look bubbly.
On the other hand, the lady doing my nails and the one on reception were really lovely, and I've never had any issues with my sunbeds or waxing I've done here before!
It was ok, but I just could have done better myself.
