Looked up a local salon to remove previous gel, then had a gel manicure the following day. I think £10 for the gel removal appointment was poor value. It was about 20 mins, I didn't feel the gel had enough time to 'soak' off, as once the removal product was applied, after a couple of minutes the beautician began to scrape the gel off my nails. However, it was clearly a struggle and was uncomfortable for me due to the pressure she was placing on my nails with the tool in order to scrape the product away. She then buffed and tidied them a little, applied some cuticle oil, and that was that. My nails ached that evening, and the following day felt sensitive (which I've not experience from a removal before). I then went for a gel application the following day, simply because she was a lovely lady, and I couldn't get booked anywhere else due to me being a last minute molly. The gel manicure, again I feel ridiculously over priced, I think on the app it's £40, but direct it's £35, but because I saw her the previous day, it was £30. However, I was dissapointed. The lady was 10/15 minutes late, and I felt she was catching up with herself a little as she had another appointment straight after. I don't feel my cuticles were 'soaked' long enough, they weren't tidied to a great condition, a little rough, not pushed back enough. They remain dry, and do not look very neat. The shellac application was good, however lost its shine after a few days, and not completely even by the cuticle. After a few days, some corners have chipped slightly. Overall, not the best manicure I've ever had, if I paid around the £20 mark, for a shape and polish, maybe I would feel I got my money's worth. However, the salon was lovely and recently refurbished, the beautician was friendly and the coffee was great! Would possibly return, but could get better value elsewhere.
