I've been here once before for a blow dry and was really impressed so thought i'd take up this offer for the make up and blow dry combo ahead of my Birthday night out. On arrival it was clear that things weren't quite running to time and I was told my make up artitst was running late with another client so instead they would start with washing my hair.
A very friendly young man washed my hair and then moved me to a chair where he part dried my hair but really just left it wet while I sat and waited for the make up lady. After 10 minutes I asked how long it would be and received no apology, the young lady i spoke to was obviously quite stressed and seemed they didn't have any where near enough staff to manage the numbers. There was a lady sitting opposite me, also with wet hair, waiting for someone to come and give her a blow dry. There was chaos around the reception area as more people arrived for appointments but no staff were available to take them. Apparently they had lots of new staff and people had been turning up late and so they were just disorganised and slightly frantic which is not the relaxing experience you're looking for from these treatments.
When my make up lady did finally arrive, there was no direction in what to go for and I didn't have anything in mind and had assumed they would guide or give me options. She started to apply some rather dark colours to my eyes which i wasn't happy with, she was happy to change it but did say she was used to working with Asian ladies who can take those colours, being a pale English skin, this definitely wasn't going to work for me so i didn't feel she was tailoring it to me or my needs. To be honest I was glad when it was done as it was the worst makeover I've ever had, the foundation was heavy, the colours not right for my skin and the lipstick was put on so badly I removed most of it after leaving and had to redo it myself - more than disappointing.
The blow dry, when it did finally happen was ok, but it was really rushed as they were all still running behind time and I was way over my appointment time and had to dash to my dinner so said I only had 10 minutes and the poor young guy then had to do a slap dash job to get it done. To be honest, it wasn't bad, but it wasn't great and no where near as good as my first experience here. I would consider going back for a blow dry, but never for the make up I'm afraid.
