Long review about the clinic, the treatment and my personal experience!
So first things first. From the outside, you'll think you're at the wrong place BUT STICK WITH IT!
You press the buzzer and explain you have an appointment, you'll then be let in and greeted by an absolutely lovely receptionist who is very smiley (nice to see first thing in the morning). She confirms your details and gives you a form to fill out. The waiting area is large and bright, the place smells clean and fresh. After I'd filled out my forms and handed them back, I was promptly shown to the treatment room. Again the treatment room was bright, clean and smelled fresh.
They use a proper laser hair removal machine not just IPL like a lot of places, it's the Soprano Titanium which is the latest machine from Alma (a high end laser hair removal device manufacturer).
Soprano Titanium only came on the market a few months ago and has lots of enhanced features compared to the Soprano Ice ( the previous release that most top beauty clinics use for hair removal now). The Soprano Titanium also has a laser handheld device with a larger surface area which means it's much quicker to get the entire treatment done compared to other machines.
Laser hair removal works by targeting the follicles which means you have to shave from the day before your first treatment until all your treatments are done. I know it sounds counter-intuitive but it's just what you have to do!
I'd opted for Full Body laser including face. I'm looking forward of being able to ditch waxing, depilating, threading, shaving etc and the time that it will save me. I've tried IPL in the past and it didn't work for me. I've even tried the handheld laser devices but they're so small that getting a medium sized area takes forever and I didn't find it very effective.
Most salons say 'fully body' but actually only include full arms, full legs, underarms and bikini line. This place is true to its word, full body means everywhere except the hair on your head, your eyebrows and the soles of your feet/palms of your hands (where hair doesn't grow).
My technician was great. She gave me the eye protectors, applied the cooling gel first and then proceeded to start the treatment. She always ensured I was appropriately covered up and constantly asked how I was. Very professional and made a point of trying to make me feel as comfortable as possible.
The cooling gel is true to its name- very cold. The front of the laser device (the part that touches your skin) is also set to -3 degrees to help combat the heat of the laser.
It's meant to be 'virtually pain-free' and maybe it's just my own personal pain threshold that is the issue but it was definitely not pain free for me.
The pain was bearable on my legs and arms but for Hollywood and Face, I was in a lot of pain and was squirming my way through it because the laser felt so hot on my skin.
It's been a few days since my appointment and I've noticed that the hair in some places has grown a little and then just fallen out. The hair in other places is still growing but I think that's normal and it will just be targeted in my next treatment.
All in all, I would highly recommend laser hair removal at BodyBest London, they use a highly advanced machine and the people that work there are friendly, professional and thorough. Looking forward to my next appointment (although I'm not looking forward to the pain!).
