We booked for a luxury spa weekend, I emailed straight after I booked to book our treatments. No response, called and didn't get through a few times, finally did and they said they are fully booked and that we need to sort it with lastminute.com, who were brilliant. Decided to use the spa facilities, they were so so. Food was included, but would have been over priced if not. At lunch we were forgotten about twice and so skipped dessert. At dinner my mushroom ravioli was nice until you got to the bottom, it must have been left on a hot plate because the bottom side of the pasta was burnt. And the banana split was done with an unripe banana. And the room was freezing cold.
I have booked this hotel as my birthday treat but unfortunately my birthday was ruined. I had a luxury one-night spa break booked. The restaurant and spa staff was very unhelpful, unorganized and no one seemed to know what they were doing. It was also very difficult to find anyone to speak to. We had to wait for over 40 mins for our main course lunch to arrive and hence the reason why my husband had lost his treatment time which was already paid for and we were unable to reschedule it as there was no more availability. We would have waited even more as the waiters were never there and we had to chase them up ourselves. I had also missed part of my lunch as I had to rush to get my treatment as otherwise I would have missed it as well. The service was extremely slow (even though it was not busy) and the food was unfortunately not great either. That was definitely not the relaxing spa break that we were expecting but in fact we have found the whole experience to be very stressful and rushed. I especially find it extremely unfair for my husband to not receive his one-hour treatment due to the failure on part of the hotel staff as everything has already been paid for. I have emailed the hotel directly but up to date received no response. We've been on many spa breaks before but this was definitely the most stressful and rushed spa breaks we’ve ever experienced. We will definitely not be going back.
On the plus point the therapists themselves were very kind and helpful and the facilities were good.
Pleasant but disappointing the aroma therapy cave was a let down as was something and nothing. Also our treatments were cancelled which was one of the main reasons for going.
Staff are very attentive. We had a lovely lady called Harley who was always happy to serve and chat. We asked if we could move to a twin room upon arrival and the reception team were able to do this. Sauna area and the staff were also friendly and wanted us to have a nice time.
Room was average. Comfy beds and a large size room, but a little dated. Bathroom was also in need of some tlc, (but very clean) and there was light coming through the bottom of the door when trying to sleep at night. Felt the corridors to the rooms was also a little dated which is a contrast to the downstairs area.
We had a free dinner and breakfast option with our package and the food was tasty and well presented. Lovely selection of wines and they make a good latte.
We booked this for the spa break but we were unable to receive all the treatments due to staff illness. They were very good at keeping in contact with us incase there were spaces but unfortunately we were unable to receive one of the four treatments. We also had to have two of the treatments the day we were travelling home. This wasn't ideal. It is very hard to book treatments with the spa part of the hotel because there is never anyone on the desk. We noticed this happened a lot. It's a shame they don't offer an online service for this.
Overall a lovely time had exploring Bournemouth with some relaxing parts in a good hotel.
