My day wasn't going well starting with problems trying to park, to having to collect a sick child from school mid appointment!. The staff were very accommodating and helpful. By the time I left the salon I was feeling much better due to my great blow dry and an all round pleasant experience from the staff.
I had a "Brazilian Blow Out Keratin Treatment" about a week ago.
I walked in and Erik and Bianca were a little friendly in welcoming me, offering me something to drink and magazines to look at while Erik did my hair.
I expected to be asked if it was my first time having this treatment and being walked through the steps, when i wasn't i asked myself but the language barrier posed a problem and i was left clueless regarding what was happening.
From my research, a "Brazilian Blow Out" has a few simple steps
1) wash hair
2) apply product
3) blow dry
4) seal the product in the hair with straighteners
5) rinse the product out
6) 2nd blow dry
What i received was a "Keratin Treatment" which has steps 1-4 but you're meant to keep the product in for a couple of days. This isn't what i wanted at all, and the title was completely deceiving.
The first blow dry and the sealing of the product created such a bad smell that irritated my nose and my eyes. It made me feel very unsure of what was happening so I tried asking Bianca if this is harmful to the hair, and after a few back and fourths due to her not speaking english very well she told me that its good for the hair.
After washing it at home (waiting 2 days as instructed by Erik - i have very fine wavy hair), my hair felt absolutely horrible when wet. It felt (and still feels) hard and brittle. It dries wonderfully straight, shiny and smooth, but the wet part really concerns me.
I wasn't told anything about the procedure or what I should be expecting of my hair, not even that i shouldn't use sulfate shampoos (i know this because i researched but i find it outrageous that a hair salon that offers any kind of keratin treatment doesn't mention this).
The whole procedure and after-math made me very insecure, uncertain and a bit taken advantage of.
With regard to the salon, it was messy and extremely cold except near the single electric heater in the room.
I wouldn't come here again.
