I'm not one for posting bad reviews but my experience really was the biggest waste of £20, I paid for gel nails and toenails, I asked for gold to match my dress for a wedding, what I got was a green glitter, not only that but they were lumpy and my thumb nails only half was painted. The toes looked fine at first, however by the next day 2 of my toes the gel polish was fully off, and I had 3 badly chipped nails on my hands one also fully off. I was so disappointed having never used the shop before.
The venue is a little awkward to get to, but I would say that my treatment was fine. It felt a little rushed as not as relaxing as other salons I've been to, but really good value for money. One negative thing was that they do not accept card payments, and the booking confirmation never mentioned this, so I had to leave and find a cash machine before coming back to pay.
As usual, when I write these reviews, I try to be constructive as I realise that running a successful business is hard work and that it's not possible to provide everything that you wish you could for clients.
Well, I attended a reflexology session at California Beauty yesterday (Friday 18 March), and I must say that it was definitely one of the best ideas I had the day I booked it. I'm one of these people who are quite stressed and lethargic and balancing a caffeine habit (although it is decaff I drink these days, you still get a caffeine tolerance) that was slowly becoming more difficult to stay on top of. So I figured that getting some reflexology would be a good thing to help me relax and possibly rid me of some of my underlying stress.
Well, I can honestly say that this reflexology certainly did that. The masseuse did some excellent work on my feet, at the start she told me that we were going on a journey and she wasn't kidding. The best way to describe it is that with her magic work on my feet, I could feel the negativity, stress and worries leaving my body, the way water leaves a sponge when you squeeze it, and every time she paused I could just feel a wall of relaxation hitting me that felt really good. This went on for an hour, after which I was offered a scalp massage and again, it was like she knew just which points to touch as I could literally feeling the stress and tension leaving my head and again with every pause and when she was finished, I felt so much more relaxed and better, and to be honest, I felt quite drained, like you do after a detox, but it really was a detox for the mind! But I must say I felt quite chilled and relaxed and I went home to chill for the rest of the day!
I would definitely recommend this place to go for reflexology and I would go again without a doubt.
The only thing constructive criticism I would give is that the actual location of the place isn't easy to find, even though they give the full address of the places (it's on the third floor of the building), it would be good to have a little sign on the main door of the place to say that it's California Beauty to make it easier to spot! (Note, if there is a sign and I missed it, then I apologise for not noticing it!) Finally, although the treatment room was beautifully lit for relaxation treatments and well decorated with candles and nice relaxing music, from an aesthetic point of view, it would look nicer if the ceiling was redecorated to fit in with the ambience of the rest of the room as it did look quite sparse and utilitarian, which was out of place with the rest of the room.
However, these are just minor points and I appreciate that I don't run a business, so I'm overall, I was very happy with the reflexology I received and I would certainly recommend people to go there, and I'm very sure I'll be heading back there at some point!
Well done California Beauty!
