If you want to totally relax with comfy chairs and log fires this is the place for you. The buffet lunch is really good and the thalassotherapy has to be experienced more than once. The only bit of the whole experience that let it down for me was the steam room in the ladies changing room which was just a bit basic. An amazing place to go and relax or if you prefer to be active more than enough to keep you happy for your stay.
Staff very friendly. Thalassotherapy pool was tired, rusty spots and ceiling needed decorating. Tiles in changing areas/showers tired and black mould in grouting. Very disappointing lunch, salad not very fresh. Wraps with Chinese filling but with Mexican dressings. Hair on the brocolli. Afternoon tea was lovely but confusion as to wether it was included in the luxury spa day. I had to show the staff the confirmation e-mail to prove it was. Robes a bit tired. Massage ok but not the best I've had, therapist talked too much, lovely lady but not very relaxing. Wouldn't go back in a hurry for the price I paid. Daughter's birthday so disappointed.
Unfortunately we did not find Champneys to be well-organised. When we arrived there was no record of our booking and it took well over 30 mins for staff to sort out the matter. Although we were offered a complimentary drink while we waited for the mix-up to be resolved it didn't really make up for the 45 minutes that we wasted sitting around. The robes only seemed to come in extra large and they had run out of flip flops - good job we brought our own. This is the only Spa that we have been to where we were not asked anything about our medical history - which we found rather remiss. As Champneys is a health farm the food was strictly low fat, low sugar, low salt - so if you are looking for a tasty lunch I suggest you head for a hotel spa rather than this. There are too few beds around the pool to relax on and as we went as a couple we were disappointed not to be able to share the steam room. On the good side - the pool is fantastic and the Thalassotherapy is not to be missed.
Arriving in the beautiful surroundings is a treat in itself. Helpful friendly staff greet you and you are shown all around. The Thalassotherapy experience is not to be missed. Lunch was very enjoyable with good choices and quality food available. A whole host of different exercise classes are on offer throughout the day, every day. Our Spa Day came to an end and we reluctantly drove away but know we will be back in the very near future.
My friend and I had a lovely day at Champneys and were very impressed with the facilities. It is slightly confusing when you first visit and we got confused over the changing rooms and later discovered a bigger and more luxurious changing room. Our treatments were great and 5 days later I can still feel a difference.
