The food was lovely, very good choice and the size of the pool was very good and not busy. I was disappointed with the steam rooms as I came with my partner to enjoy our day off together and we could not use the steam rooms as they were located in the male and female changing rooms. The hot tub with bubbles was not hot and not bubbly. The gym was small and the machines could do with updating, on the whole not value for money.
The spa was really lovely and I especially enjoyed the option of variety of classes and the swimming pool. The overall experience was let down significantly by the booking process. Although online booking was easy (I booked on Fri evening for a Sun day package) and I followed up with the Champneys spa central booking line as directed by Wahanda the following day at 1200; they did not have a record of my booking but took my treatment time preference (afternoon) and confirmed they would email it to the specific Spa (but could not offer a guarantee that this would be possible)- they suggested that the booking may not have been loaded on the system yet. I spoke with Wahanda that evening when I returned home and they could only say that Champneys received the booking by email - they do not ask for confirmation of the booking (the Champneys reservation line was closed at this point - after 5pm). I could not arrive before lunch and I had no certainty that the booking was in place or I would have an afternoon treatment time. When I arrived, the staff could not find my booking (usually a pack is waiting for you) and when found with some help, it took a while to get the pack ready and I was made to feel second rate for not booking direct with Champneys. Luckily the treatment had been booked at 3pm, although the restaurant did not have the lunch booking time, despite confirmation at the front desk. The booking process between Wahanda and Champneys made everything uncertain and took time to confirm on arrival - a real let down and detracted from what should have been a relaxing experience to look forward to and enjoy. This is the second time I have booked with Wahanda - the first time, I could not reach the provider and so arrived for a treatment at a booked time in the morning to find the provider only opens during the afternoon. I gave Wahanda a second chance and was let down again.
I spent one day at the spa in April with my mum. Had nice and relaxing time with good service. I like the fact that the pool is a bit warmer than usual so you can enjoy it and don't freeze -especially after treatment. We also joined aqua class which was good fun. Both of us had massages and can recommend Champneys classic massage. Therapists are all very nice, helpful and proffessional. The lunch was also good and tasty. Staff was clearing empty plates quickly and were happy to help with different options. My mum is allergic to gluten so it was great to have many healthy meals to choose from. We really enjoyed our stay and can recommend Champneys spa for a nice day break.
Champneys is a fab place to go to get five star treatment and get away from busy lives. You are cocooned in beautiful surroundings in your dressing gown being fed good healthy food whilst sampling various treatments
Henlow is good but not as good as champneys tring for customer service and general overall experience
Every time I go to henlow , the treatments I book are mucked up including this last visit on Monday. I find some of the staff patronising and too casual at times when they shouldn't be. ... But all in all, I would always choose champneys over any other spa in the country
Excellent staff could not be any more helpful.Took my mum for a gift and she did not want to leave.Treatment are expensive so did not book many due to the day was expensive on its own . Lunch tasty . Jacuzzi was a little cold for me and a few people got in and out straight a away. Would love to go again but probably have to save again for another year.Reduce the cost of the stay or reduce cost of treatments then more middle class people could enjoy these treats.
