I've been coming to Chez Stephan for over five years and have never been disappointed. Every stylist I've had has done a fantastic job and I love the atmosphere and the glass of wine that comes as standard. My last hair cut was with Charline. She gave me some great advice and sent me off on holiday with a beautiful cut.
I have waited a week to write my review as I know sometimes with a big colour change it can take some time to get used to but unfortunately I am still unhappy with the result. I asked my hairdresser for ASH light-brown balayage highlights (on long dark brown asian hair). IT WENT ORANGE. But what was more frustrating was that the stylist refused to acknowledge it was orange saying that it was blonde if i stood by the window (it was better but it still wasn't right). I left unhappy and rushed at the end because her next appointment had arrived.
Half way through my appointment another asian lady had also come back for a colour correction (with a different stylist) as she was unhappy with her colour.
It may be just a problem with dark hair, asian hair is notoriously known to carry red-orange undertones and very difficult to lift but it definitely can be done as I have seen much better results on other family members.
Regarding the technique - actual application is good and well blended so you may have better luck if you're blonde / light brown haired naturally.
Pleasantly surprised with this cute salon tucked away off the high street. Charlene did and excellent cut and blow dry. Initially happy with colour but might need to pop back as I'm finding it slightly yellower than I usually prefer. Needs a toner I think. I like the idea of their members club but would prefer they didn't sell it at the end of the service when your paying. Might be better to give the info during your appt. maybe in the form of a flyer so you are not trying to digest lots of info when you're keen to get on with the rest of the day. It's a good deal just could be executed better.
