After being too scared to go near a hairdresser for nearly 8 months I bit the bullet, and was very pleased with these guys, I've recieved several compliments already, and it's only day 2. I'm pretty fussy about the bit of hair I have left, so it's important they get it right. I like the fact that they also host wine tasting events, shows creativity, and the world is sorely lacking in that these days.
I was looking for a new hairdresser in Putney to start going to for my regular highlights and cuts, so I looked on Wahanda for good recommendations. Chez Stephan popped up at the top of the list, so I decided to book in through Wahanda first for a blowdry to 'test the water' and see if I wanted to make them my permanent hairdressers. However I was extremely disappointed. The hairdresser I was given to blow dry my hair had absolutely no clue as to what he was doing. I showed him a photo of what I wished for - I have long layered thick hair and I just wanted a big bouncy blow dry. I know my hair can achieve this, as I have had many professional blow dry's over the years. However he dryed my hair completely flat. I should have queried with him at the start, when he used absolutely no products on my hair after it had been washed and only used a small round brush, but I felt rude to query at that point. He started to realise after he was nearly finished that he had done a very bad job, so said he would run the straighteners through it to achieve some 'waves and volume', however he ended up tightly curling certain strands of my hair, when large sections were then poker straight. I have honestly never seen my hair look worse. When I said I didn't like it, he complained that is was because my hair was 'too fine' and that he liked the uneven 'textured' look. I was so upset that I just wanted to get out of the hairdressers there and then, so I paid £25.50 and left. I then had to run home and rectify the entire mess myself. I did get in touch with the salon yesterday to tell them of my awful experience and to be fair to them, they did apologise and offer me a blow dry for free with one of their "permanent" stylists. But unfortunately it has completely put me off from going again. Please just be aware that when booking through Wahanda on a deal, I am under the impression that they give you their temp stylists who must be extremely junior and unexperienced.
Best haircut I've had in a long time. Stephan took care of me (guess that's how it should be the first time you go there, especially if it is through Wahanda). Anyway I was so glad I took their haircut offer (4 for £80 with no limit in time) as I thought that was value. The whole wine club thing which Stephan runs in the same place also seems quite interesting... Managed to leave the place with 3 bottles of nice French red for £25.
I had my hair done by Benoit and it was great. I am very fussy and have had the same hairdresser for 2 years but she was unavailable so I booked Chez Stephan through Wahanda. I could not be more pelased with the cut and colour. I can't understand the negative comments on here. Yes it maybe unusual that he used tissue and not foil but it worked and it's lovely talking to someone who is passionate and uses different ideas. The lovely wine was a plus too! I would definitely go back. (I haven't given it a 5 as a rarely rate anything full marks!!)
A great experience. My stylist spent ages ensuring that my highlights were done well and that they looked natural. I was very pleased with the results. This will definitely be my new salon of choice!
