I really wanted to like it but I really didn't.
They were doing free haircuts so I booked an appointment for a trim. I was not offered anything to drink. I was told there would be a consultation, but there was none. The girl who cut my hair couldn't speak English so I showed her I only wanted to cut one inch off. I was not given a special apron/cloth to wear over my body. Unlike other hairdressers, the girl did not partition my hair into sections and cut methodically, instead she selected random parts of my hair to cut, and there was a lot of pulling which was uncomfortable. She did not compare the lengths of either side of my hair to ensure they matched, so it was very, very uneven. I noticed she cut a lot more than I asked, but I thought she knew what she was doing (she was called a 'stylist' so one would assume she had some experience). I asked for it to be curled, and she wrapped part of my hair around the handle (not bristles) of the brush to dry, which made weird, tight curls and weird, loose curls. Some part of my hair were not curled at all. At no point did someone more senior come to check on the haircut.
I was not very happy but I thought I could give it three stars. However the manager asked me how the haircut was, and I said it wasn't what I wanted, that is was very uneven and much shorter than expected. He said it looked 'glamorous' and proceeded to tell me I didn't communicate what I had wanted, that the girl was young, and most alarmingly, that it was a free haircut so what did I expect? To be honest I expected what I asked for: a trim.
I always have my hair cut my trainees in other salons, but they always cut with a method and always have someone more senior to check the cut. This non-English speaking trainee was left to her own devices, with no apparent support or training. I was obviously upset that my hair was half the length it was before, and I left crying.
I also saw that napkins which fall on the floor get picked up and placed back into the pile of napkins.
Shop nice, staff friendly. Haircut ok-a short patch at the back though.
No bottle of wine offered, a glass was offered which made the special wahanda offer at £25 expensive.
Either a rip off or poorly trained staff?
The staff were very attentive and friendly. The service was quick and efficient, and I was really happy with my highlights and blow dry. I would go back again.
Overall great value for money. Different stlye to most hairdressers - no foils used for the hightlights which I liked. He aslo trimmed my hair after he had dried which prevented the right amount coming off and not trimming it too short like some hairdressers tend to do. It was a sunday so quiet and relaxed - chilled music on in the background. I have recommended it to my friends and I will certainly go back.
