Had my hair done Saturday with Mariella and she done an amazing job. Booked through treatwell for a balayage, cut and blow dry. Was offered a drink on arrival, My hair looks beautiful and she also put a bonding treatment and toner on free of charge, as I wanted a really ashy colour and most salons charge £20 extra for this. Really really pleased and will definitely come back for my next cut and colour! Half the price of other hairdressers in town and she’s a lovely lady too. Great at her job and very welcoming.
I keep going back to Mari as she does my highlights perfectly each time. I’ve tried many hairdressers and none have been able to get the ashy thin highlights the way I wanted but Mari has done them perfectly every time! She’s so friendly and nothing is too much trouble and not to mention it is great value!
I’m not one to complain, Saturday I tried out Treatwell for the first time and at first the experience was fantastic I could easily book my appointment through the app, which is a fantastic idea! It’s so convenient and I got a great price.
However once I went to the Class salon in Kingston it was a totally different experience. My hairdresser was Mariella she seems like she has a very kind heart and lovely nature which has made it difficult to complain. When she began to do my highlights she was great and was very talkative, she kept repeating how next time I should book through her and not the app because treatwell gets the money. At first she seemed very clued up and knew what she was doing, now and then I noticed that she was quite messy with the bleach, bits got on my legs and she got it down herself. But who isn’t messy, no ones perfect.
It was when we went to wash the bleach off. She explained that the lads that worked there didn’t put the hot water on. She asked one of them to get the shampoo from above my head and to sort the water. She tested the water and said it was cold and proceeded to wash my hair. It was freezing!!! It was then I spoke up and apologised and said sorry it’s far too cold. She kept repeating don’t worry darling I sort it for you. I was left freezing cold sat there with my bleached highlight strands touching the non bleach strands causing the colour to bleed. It was then my ears starting burning and my neck. She came back with a kettle of water she had boiled, she mixed the cold water in then put shampoo on my hair, but didn’t massage it in and didn’t get to other parts of my hair like my ears and bottom of my scalp. Instead more water went down my face, in my eyes and on my clothes. Shampoo was just applied to the top bit of my hair. She told me to get up and go back to the salon chair. By this point my ears and neck were really itching and sore, she took the towel off and began to blow dry. I looked in the mirror and noticed clumps of blue bleach still in my hair, just above my ears. I itched my neck and saw the bleach from under my finger nails. I raised my concern and said it was really sore and she just said I had sensitive skin. It was then I said no it hasn’t been washed off look I have bleach in my hair still and it’s burning! It was that point I had tears in my eyes and just wanted to leave! She said don’t get upset with me, then grabbed a towels dampened it with water and started to rub my neck and ears. As she started to blow dry I think she could still see bleach in my hair and tried to use the damp towel and pull the stands of hair with bleach on rather than washing it!
By this point I just wanted to go home and wash it myself. she blow dried it, it was still burning and I noticed powder coming off my hair. I didn’t feel safe her cutting it, so I didn’t end up getting a cut even tho I had paid for it.
Once I left the salon and went home, my mum had noticed bits of my hair had fallen out, and I had broken strands of straw-like hair. The towel I used had so much bleach on it that it made a hole through the towel. I really didn’t want to complain but this is a serious health and safety issue!! I was made to feel Like I could not speak up in the salon because her manager was there, she could see I was upset and said next you can have half price of colour. But I can assure you I will not be returning!!
I went for my 11.30 haircut when I arrived the lady was colouring another person's hair. She apologised as she was running late. it wasn't the cleanest hairdressers I've seen and there was a dog running around, I don't mind dogs but not what I expected in a hairdressers. the lady then asked me what I was having done and I replied haircut. what I should have said was haircut and blow dry and she didn't check my booking at all. She called me over to have my haircut and all seemed a little rushed with having her other client. I showed her 3 pictures of the style I was after and pointed to the length and said two inches off (I wanted a basic cut below my shoulders). She was friendly although a little patronising about my hair and what I should be doing but I took this as friendly advice and I don't think she meant to be rude. the first thing she did was brush my hair down my back and razor off the bottom. I have never had this before and what was worse she didn't check length first and therefore razored it off above my shoulders. when I noticed I said that it was much shorter than I asked for. She kind of apologised. she then cut into a bit more but I was a little nervous by this point and asked her to stop. She replied that she had finished. I never complain to anyone but I did say this isn't what I asked for and I don't like it. She pulled the apron off of me covering me with hair and told me I don't have to pay. I told her I would like to to pay something and she had cut my hair but she just kept saying no. She told me that all girls like me come in and ask her to do something and then say she got it wrong just so they don't have to pay. this was not the case with me at all. I think her prices are reasonable but she needs to be more organised with her clients and careful with what she is doing. it all felt very rushed and a chopped at hair cut. I came home and cried. I know these things happen and hair cuts go shorter than expected but her attitude towards me at the end was appalling. If you are going to go just be very careful of what you ask for and expect. I ended up having a completely dry hair cut ( not even sprayed with water to make sure all is the same length) and cut with a razor. just not what I expected.
