So this isn't different from a lot of salons I guess, but I don't think my hairdresser adequately assessed my hair texture before deciding how to cut it (he got it wet as soon as I came in). My hair is really silky and fairly hard to layer well. I asked for a fringe, and he immediately said that he hated full fringes (which was one of the styles I was considering). The picture I showed wasn't a full fringe, but he cut one a lot lighter than the picture, composed of almost entirely baby hairs (i have a lot of baby hairs). I've ended up with a bit of an 80s looking mullet with super feathery bangs. I don't feel like its a very age appropriate haircut either (i'm early 20s). Maybe its something that would look really good on brazilian hair but not mine. I gave the benefit of the doubt when he finished (as I often only grow to like haircuts after a few days) but it still looks pretty bad and I'll probably need to get it cut again. This didn't particularly bother me, although I think its worth noting - my hairdresser had quite bad english so somebody had to translate my requests and his suggestions.
