Unfortunately this wasn't a great massage experience.
Ambience - The music was not really that relaxing and louder than it needs to be
Spa facilities - Really basic, firstly the door doesn't close properly, so doesn't really make you feel great while you are changing, the massage table where you put your face is not really that comfortable and they need to put an additional towel in the face area for additional comfort, and for some reason the table seemed smaller than normal massage tables.
Staff - was greeted nicely, however, the masseuse seemed very inexperienced, didn't explain the massage, some information about a Swedish back massage would have been useful, didn't check if the pressure was ok, and it wasn't. Too soft, the massage was nowhere near deep enough, pretty much just felt like she rubbed oil on my body for an hour, and then at the end of the massage asked if I would like to leave the oil on. I was literally dripping with oil, so I asked for a towel to wipe it down. I even asked if the masseuse could focus on my lower back as that is where the pain was, she said sure, I waited for her to then massage the lower back which never happened.
Value - Definitely not worth the value, this was a present to me from my wife as I have been doing lots of renovation work on the house, by back had been hurting, so she thoughtfully bought me a massage. This was very disappointing and a waste of money, I felt no more relaxed after the massage, and just covered in oil. My wife was really upset as the massage served no purpose, I've had quite a few massages over the years, varying types, and honestly I can say this is the worst I've had. I've never had a Swedish deep tissue massage, but I’m pretty sure that my massage was not how it was supposed to be. Based on this massage I would not recommend Amara Beauty Day Spa to friends or family.
For the area, this is definitely one of the nicer and more professional beauticians. The staff were friendly and accommodating. Unfortunately, I did have an allergic reaction to the peppermint after wax oil on my arms, and the wax itself was a bit too hot which caused a small blister by the following day, in the area that the test patch that was done on my wrist. They were able to treat the reaction to the peppermint oil quickly with rose water and aloe vera gel. I've never had issues previously with reactions to wax or after wax oil. I would definitely have other treatments, such as massages at Amara.
