I booked an acupuncture plus massage treatment. Tina, my masseuse, was very good. As I don't like baby oil and won't allow any other petrol based product on my skin, she had to perform a dry massage, and this she did admirably. Thank you Tina - five stars. Now the acupuncture. Over the past three decades I have had numerous acupuncture treatments and courses in various parts of the country and several times whilst I was in Japan many moons ago. However, this was the first time my tongue 'wasn't' inspected and my wrist pulses not taken. These are methods used for diagnostic purposes and choice of acupoints. Instead Dr Hu placed several needles in my back along the bladder meridian, here there are the points directly relating to all the organs so I guess this would be the standard treatment given to everyone, and one I wouldn't go back for. I love traditional Chinese medical treatments because they're tailored to the individual, this one obviously wasn't. D Hu did ask if I had any specific conditions - I said I had but as I said my treatment didn't target this and concentrated on the bladder points only (which wasn't my issue), and in every other treatment several meridians are targeted from different parts of the body. So, the average star rating I've given is not for the massage - this has bumped it up - but for the 'lack' of treatment given by the acupuncturist, and also because he went on about how cheap the session was - not good business.
Didn't work for me. Back pain eased but ended up with a stiff neck.
Very good visit, arrived a few minutes early and got seen straight away. The lady asked if I wanted the pressure to be hard or soft. I requested hard and she actually applied good pressure - something you don't always get. She kept asking if the pressure was good throughout the massage. Will definitely be back.
Good value treatment. Massage included lymphatic drainage, which was new to me. Unsure about benefits of a 45min acupuncture vs. shorter ones, as they simply pop the pins in and leave you with a ticking clock under a heat lamp for however long you have bought. Ticking clock is actually not relaxing at all!
