I love this new salon. The staff were friendly and did a very good and efficient pedicure - open later after work which is a real help. I will definitely go back.
This is a very very small nail salon. It’s a bit too small for my liking as there’s isn’t much room to maneuver oneself if another client or staff member comes in. There is one pedicure chair and it’s not a typical massage chair with foot basin but more of a wooden built in chair that’s elevated. It was comfortable nonetheless but not as comfortable as a massage chair you see at other salons.
No drinks (not even water) were offered to anyone which I was disappointed with.
The staff is very friendly and talkative but I was not told anyone’s name so I cannot tell you the names of my techs. This is a place where people come to gossip and they know their regulars. You can’t help but listen to someone’s conversation because it’s such a small space and you are a few feet away from someone else. Only three hand stations and one foot. Very pretty and new but again, much too small.
The woman who did my pedicure did a great job and the basin had a disposable liner for sanitation which is very good. She was a perfectionist and took her time making sure it was done well. There wasn’t much of a foot and leg massage and what I did receive for a very short time was more painful than relaxing. I prefer a relaxing massage.
The outlet for the gel light is on the wall next to the built in chair for the pedicure so clients have to reach over and plug it in themselves which isn’t easy and not a good design. I had my manicure at the same time as my pedicure. The manicurist didn’t do the best job at shaping my nails and didn’t cover the entire nail with polish. A week later my nail polish began to chip which is the quickest any gel/shellac has lasted. Normally they last three weeks for me, at least two but sometimes as much as four weeks. This one however only lasted a week.
My pedicure still looks good but the manicure was disappointing. Nothing very relaxing here which quite frankly is the reason I get a mani/pedi. I like massage chairs, a relaxing foot, hand and leg massage, and I prefer a bit more space between clients and not a tiny salon.
I probably won’t return for the reasons mentioned above but there’s one that bothered me that probably is best not to say in a review. I will say that sympathy is not something the staff has and with regard to that particular subject I was very hurt and shocked by something the pedicurist said to me. I don’t prefer to go to places that gossip and have to know every detail of a client’s life. Sure it’s nice to have friendly conversation but this staff goes way beyond that and for me it’s too intrusive. I also didn’t like a small child running around the small salon and the entire staff making this toddler a priority. Wrong place, wrong time. No one goes to a salon to see a hear a toddler.
Location is great and close to many shops and restaurants in Chelsea. Price is higher than I’ve paid at other salons even though this one did not even offer water or a massage chair.
