Elegant is a beauty studio in busy Chinatown and I wasn't too sure what to expect as I arrived. The staff were very flexible with changing my appointment time and even my treatment type (I was going to have the Guinot facial but opted for a massage at the last minute). The Thai massage was amazing although the therapist didn't seem too friendly, not sure if that's from a language barrier....
Going here is not like going somewhere like O Spa or a big spa/beauty chain but to be honest I've been to quite a few places from these kind of deals and this is definitely one of the better ones (I've been to some really not very good ones). At Elegant you don't get the full 5* spa style treatment but what you do get is a friendly, helpful service from reception, a great treatment in okay but not necessarily the most peaceful of surroundings (I heard the next door restaurant while I was having my treatment tonight but personally I didn't care because the treatment was so good) and great value for money. As someone very physical who doesn't get enough massages as I need to look after my body, I have decided to make Elegant my regular as even their normal prices are affordable and you get a really good treatment for the amount you pay. I would definitely recommend Elegant but don't go expecting 5* perfection. If you don't mind not having that, you'll definitely get some of the best massages here - Wan in particular was heaven sent!
NB/ the massages I had were Thai style so it was pretty deep and my therapist was literally walking all over me. I'm not sure if they have less dynamic massages so worth bearing in mind if you're looking for something just relaxing. That said, I found the massage great because I did feel relaxed afterwards, knotty bits eased out but also energised which was quite surprising because I can feel even more tired after a massage when I'm already tired. Enjoy!
Enjoyed a nice massage here with a Wahanda voucher. Great value for money and I was very impressed with the service I was given. I have already booked in with them again for my next massage.
This is a bit of a strange review, because I didn't actually go to the appointment. First of all this place simply don't answer their phone, when I was trying to rebook, I had to literally ring all morning on Friday before anyone picked up the phone towards midday. Then when I did show up for my appointment on Saturday, I was horrified to find myself in the middle of China town, in the middle of the chinese New Year celebrations...not very relaxing. I would never have intentionally booked a 'massage' in China town. I found this very off putting. Reading some of the other reviews, this place doesn't sound very relaxing.
Then, to top it all....I couldn't actually find the salon. Gerrard st. only went up to number 26...and the salon is apparently number 37. I totally gave up on this one, and I have contacted Wahanda for a refund. I'm really surprised at this because all of my other Wahanda experiences have been fantastic.
Not the best experience I've ever had! When I booked my facial, I upgraded to a more expensive treatment that I was going to be pay extra money for. I had to book weeks in advance as the salon was busy. Then a day before my booking, I got a call from the salon saying they'd made a mistake with my booking and could I come the day after instead. I agreed. The next day came, and 1 and half hours before my new booking, the salon called again, telling me another mistake has been made and could I change the time again. When I finally turned up, they said there was no time for the more expensive facial and they could only give me the express treatment. After being mucked about with the booking, this was pretty annoying!
The actual therapist was lovely though I don't know how much she actually knew about skincare. I am pregnant and wanted some information on my skin at this time, but she didn't answer anything about that.
If I hadn't been mucked around so much I probably would have gone back as I did feel relaxed after the treatment. However, I just wouldn't trust them to get my booking right!
It took a while to find the salon; slab bang in the middle of china town. The salon wasn;t the usual type of setting or tranquil ambience...and the massage rooms looked a little 'dodgy'. Having said that the staff were very pleasant and accommodating. The massage altho, not a technique I was used to, was good and felt relaxed afterwards. The treatment was VERY cheap and def worth it.
