We really enjoyed our spa break. We'd booked the deal without treatments included and initially when we rang the hotel to book them they said we couldn't have any! However, after I spoke to the manager they booked us in for treatments on the Sunday morning and extended our check out time so we wouldn't have to rush. On arrival we were greeted warmly by reception and managed to get a twin room rather than the king size double they'd booked us. I was staying with my mum as a break from my toddlers so very much wanted my own bed! It was no problem apart from waiting for our complimentary robes, slippers and wine to arrive in our room. I must add that it was the Valentine's weekend and was unusually very busy at the weekend we stayed. Despite this it didn't seem packed. The pool, sayna & steam rooms were busy but at dinner the seating times were well staggered so we didn't feel crowded in. The hotel staff were mostly friendly and helpful (only one person let them down) The hotel room was very smart & clean and had everything you need. Just needed more tea bags (but got more at reception) It even had a decent size fridge so we stored our own fresh milk and our complimentary wine in it. Lovely quiet rooms. Couldn't hear anyone else which was perfect. The dinner was delicious and had choices for meat eaters and veggies alike. Excellent service at dinner and breakfast with large array of breakfast items on offer and special orders arrived quickly (poached eggs for eg) My mum had the age defying facial and I had the back, neck & shoulder massage. My mum is a therapist so is picky but found it excellent. My massage was relaxing. All in all a great value break in a lovely, clean & friendly hotel. Would recommend it. Make sure you ring and confirm treatments & details before you arrive. We would go again, but not on my birthday weekend (valentines day)
I booked a spa day with an aromatherapy massage in January 2014.
The changing rooms are very nice, secure, modern and clean. The showers (I think there were 3) are big with huge shower heads and nice shower gel. The whole changing area is well-equipped, tidy, clean and lovely.
In the spa area there are altogether 8 comfortable, big sun loungers - 4 on each end of the good-size swimming pool.
The ambient temperature of the pool area is lovely and warm - you can rest on the loungers without feeling cold. The pool water is refreshing. There is a good size sauna and steam room by the pool side and during the day you don't have too many people you have to share the facilities with.
The aromatherapy massage was carried out by a lovely, experienced, caring massage therapist called Celine. It was very relaxing and the facilities for the massage were in line with the rest of the spa - well-equipped, nice, clean, and comfortable.
I had a wonderful relaxing day and I'm already looking forward to my next visit.
Wahanda were very good at taking the booking and it went through straight away to the hotel. The Hotel was the Holiday Inn at Reading M4 J10. The pool, sauna and steam room were very good, unfortunately there was no jacuzzi. The staff at the hotel were very efficient and helpful, I can't fault them. The food was very good and I really enjoyed the evening meal.
Lovely hotel. Extremely friendly and helpful staff. Delicious food. Only downside is that its on an industrial estate/business park, so nothing in walking distance, but this didn't affect our stay at all, and is a positive if you need quick access to M4 etc
