This hotel is amazing, we were in a exective room which was great. The high tea was lovely and are 3 course dinner was amazing, we chose the indian menu which the waiter recommened, and we both agreed it was the best indian we had ever had. The gym and health suite are both excellent. The massage was lovely and the beautician were both really nice too. All the staff wer excellent. We loved it so much that we are going to book our wedding there for next year. Definetly worth a stay and not like a normal holiday inn, you will not be disappointed.
Dear Wahanda,
I have recently written a complaint letter to the Holiday Inn Reading after my visit on the 22nd of September and was going to write a similar one to yourselves and Lastminute.com.
When arriving at the hotel for our stay there was a bit of confusion at the desk with what our package actually included, and my boyfriend and myself were a bit embarrassed as we had to list the things which we were expecting such as, the towels, robes and slippers for our treatment. When it actually came to the treatment we were still not given our robes etc, it wasn't until after when I asked the therapist that they gave them to us.
The treatment itself was supposed to last 45 minutes, but infact was only 30 minutes, if that. After paying the price of £95 each and expecting the massage to last longer was disappointing.
When the package also said it included a 3 course set menu dinner, I did not expect that we would have to pay extra for our meal. We should have been provided with some sort of idea of what food was going to be included. As when we arrived for dinner, every meal was £18 or over, and we were told that we had a limit of only £45 between the two of us in our package. When the meals are that expensive and you have a boyfriend who eats like mine, that really doesn't go far!
Overall I think there has been a lack of communication between yourselves, Lastminute.com and the hotel itself, and I'm fairly disappointed. All staff were very welcoming and friendly, however I feel that missing out on 15 minutes of our treatment that we expected, and paid for is unfair. Also having to ask for things that were supposed to be included in our package is not acceptable.
I look forward to hearing your response.
Yours Sincerely,
Emily Kinchington and Aaron Ryder
Visited recently with my Mum. Everything was brilliant, my only comment is that I would have liked a jacuzzi. Very friendly staff and extremely clean throughout. Would definitely visit again.
I have visited this hotel before whilst in the area, on my first visit to the hotel I had a meal along with four family members and was very impressed at the service, quality of food etc so decided to try a spa break for a birthday treat for my friend of many years, my goodness we were not disappointed, the treatments we had were outstanding especially the hot stone massage, this was amazing and made us both feel very relaxed and stress free, exactly what the Doctor had ordered, the same applied to the steam and sauna facility, we also used the pool which again was a nice area to be in and was a pleasure to swim in, I am a regular swimmer at my local gym/spa and there is no comparison, Again the food and the service were first class, the food quality was second to none the service of the staff was exceptional, nothing was too much trouble for them, they work to a very high standard, I cannot praise this visit enough, I have decided after this being my second trip to the Holiday Inn to see about a Christmas Break there that is how much I have enjoyed my experience (just need to talk the husband into it !!!) I would highly recommend one of the spa breaks for a special treat for someone in my opinion you will not be disappointed.
The lastminute.com process was not a problem. However, the whole experience with the Holiday Inn and its 'spa' facilities, its staff, the food etc was absolutely appalling. I wanted to treat my friend to a day of pampering and relaxation but sadly this did not happen.
The treatments were ok. We then ordered some lunch that I knew was going to be an added cost. Our meals arrived, only to see that my friends order was incomplete. We ordered a bottle of wine but also asked for a jug of water, that never arrived. Upon our lunch being 'served' two members of staff demanded that I pay there and then. Paint the picture......are you really going to keep your debit card in your robe?? I asked if I could pay upon checkout....the answer? NO!! So, I ended up going to the changing rooms to get my card from our locker, I made the journey back and payed. I informed them that my friends meal was incomplete...they brought the missing items out. The food arrived an hour after we ordered, by the time I had payed the food was cold. Our plates weren't taken away at any point. Part of the package was strawberries and cream. we told them about this at four p.m as we were checking out at five o'clock. They didn't arrive until five, just as our taxi had arrived. Two mouthfuls of strawberries later we were gone.
To say the day was appalling does not do justice to the upset caused on what was supposed to be a lovely day for us both.
In total, the day cost over two hundred pounds......can I say that again.....two hundred pounds, and to top it all, both of our varnishes dropped off within two days!!
I will be contacting the Holiday Inn in question to discuss what I have noted above.
Never, never again.
