This is the first time in my life I left a haircut and cried. It took me years to grow out my hair long and thick, and this was all undone in half an hour. In the consultation before the cut, I said I liked to keep it as long as possible, and she showed me about 1/2 inch of length that needed to be cut off. “Great!” I said. In the end, she took off at least 3 inches. Plus her layering style (mostly done after the blow dry, while my hair was dry and after I thought she’d finished) was to thin out my ends. So my hair looks dry, thin, and dead already, one day after the cut. There is no fixing this, it will take a year or more to grow it back to what it was like.
On top of all this, It was also just a generally unpleasant experience. No head massage during the wash. And the blow dry was PAINFUL! She kept burning my scalp with the blow dryer. In the end, because I don’t think she used any conditioner during the wash and because of the brush she used to dry my hair (which gave a straight effect like a flatiron, even though I said I wanted volume like with a big round brush) my hair was full of static electricity- it looked like I’d put my finger in a light socket. When I asked for some serum or oil to help tame it, she just said she’d already used some product in my hair and blamed it on the weather!
This was, hands down, the worst experience I’ve ever had at a salon. Since I had pre-paid, I couldn’t even do anything about it but walk out.
