If you ever get a chance to visit Grayshott, never say no! This place is so peaceful I felt like I could completely relax and never worry again, that was until I had to get on the train back to Waterloo (hmph). Everything about Grayshott screams, or rather whispers, 'relaxation' - as soon as you walk in you're greeted so politely and almost feel like you should tip toe everywhere!
The bedrooms are amazing, the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in (I swear I literally sank into it!) Plus the bathroom was bigger than my entire house, with a huge bathtub and two sinks. The food is fab too in the lovely restaurant, I had the risotto which was just perfect.
The spa is so relaxing too, there's a bed area with big fluffy duvets to have a nap under after a treatment, the sauna and steam room were great and the plunge pool which I wasn't brave enough to go in! The pools are fab too, everything looks luxurious. My treatment was amazing too, the therapist (Faye) was very thorough and I did drop off for a few minutes even though it was a deep massage. She gave me brilliant advice too, I'm to have a massage a week - who could say no?! The spa lunch is lovely, healthy food but plenty of it and ideal for vegetarians like me.
Overall, I'd say don't miss a chance to experience Grayshott, I'd be back there in a heartbeat! Even the taxi driver who took me to the station said he's always picked up happy customers from there, including some celebs!
Wow what an amazing venue - I would thoroughly recommend anyone who is looking for a stress free day in beautiful tranquil surroundings to get themselves booked into Grayshott Spa.
The hotel Manor house is beautiful, with stunning grounds that you can take in whilst sat on the terrace or lounging at the outdoor pool. When I went it was really hot which was perfect to make the most of the garden there is however more than enough to do inside making a perfect location all year round. The Sauna and Steam area is huge and can't imagine it ever feeling too busy - there is a plunge pool which was far too cold for me!
I had the de-stress massage which was fab! My therapist Cheryl was lovely and explained what she was going to do and made sure I was comfortable throughout. It did the job and I felt totally relaxed just in time for lunch.
The food at Grayshott is delicious, healthy but still tasty - they even let you have wine with dinner!!!
I would definitely love to go back to Grayshott, just need to plan when I can get back there!
I was lucky enough to accompany a friend on a relaxing one night break Grayshott – after she won it in the wahanda advent calender comp. We managed to fit it into our schedules just in time, we were both in dire need of a break and really needed to get out of muggy, grey London.
Grayshott met all of our needs as it couldn’t be further away from the capital (even though in reality it is only an hour’s train ride to get there) From the moment we arrived to the moment we left we felt as though we were wrapped in cotton wool, in a blissful world where life was just for relaxing and pampering.
Grayshott’s grounds are magnificent, the house feels like you are in a romantic novel and the views from our window (overlooking the heated outdoor swimming pool no less) were astounding. I could happily have stayed in our room for the entire visit – the bath tub was huge, the shower had two heads and we even had our own little living area with not one, but two flat screen TVs. However, with the extension of facilities at Grayshott it would have been a complete waste for us to spend our two days indoors and we immediately rushed down to the pool for a swim. I was a bit disappointed to discover that the female spa area, with sauna, steam and relaxation room, was a small distance away from the pool as I do like to alternate my swimming with some time in the steam. It also meant many a dripping wet trip along the corridors back and forth.
All food is included in the price of your stay so on arrival we enjoyed a delicious (albeit small) 3-course meal which was delicious but so tiny we both felt we could have eaten it again. Grayshott recently won an award for ‘Best For Weight loss’ and if I wanted to lose some weight I definitely would book myself in for a couple of weeks but on this occasion my friend and I just fancied a girlie break away and didn’t appreciate being put on an enforced diet.
Luckily, the breakfast and lunch are buffet style eating and I am not ashamed to say we embarrassed ourselves by going up a couple of times!
As part of the prize we were booked in for a full body massage – just the ticket for aching, office shoulders – but we were both a little bit annoyed that our masseuses were men and we hadn’t been given an option to choose. However, half an hour into the massage I didn’t care who was massaging me – it was so blissful!
We both left with glowing skin and an immense feeling of relaxation – though we were very scared to face London and it’s tubes again! If I could afford it, I would definitely book myself in for a long stay as there was so much to do and we didn’t manage to fit it all in. Either that or I’ll manically enter all wahanda competitions from now on… and I suggest you all do the same!
As a Spa virgin, already feeling the ‘December mist’ crowding me (= pressure of work +family AND Christmas! Arghh…..), I set off for a Saturday’s treat at Grayshott with mixed feelings. I was hitching a ride as I had determined some months previously to treat a dear friend for a day’s relaxation as her 50th birthday present.
Firstly you have to understand Grayshott is tucked away in a lovely location, the brochure promises ‘peace on arrival’ and they were not wrong. Friendly staff greeted us and spotting two newbies gave us a tour of the house and facilities so we could get our bearings straight away and feel the wonderful calm ambience of the house.
The immediate winner for me was the relaxation room and associated spa area – none of the energetic golf, tennis, gym or country walking facilities for me; I wanted a day of rest …..
Over coffee we planned our day; before lunch hit the in-door pool first, then move to the steam room & sauna and & then wind down in the afternoon in the relaxation room to get us in the mood for the treatments we had booked in the afternoon. Somehow we managed to fit in a short talk about the benefits of regular exercise too.
In the pool we joined a class doing interesting things with foam dumb bells and the like – a good aqua workout. The steam room & sauna were good temperatures, nothing uncomfortably hot. By the time we slipped into lunch I had built up quite an appetite. Once I got over eating whilst still in my dressing gown (the only acceptable Spa dress) we tucked into a truly wonderful spread of food, all very light and healthy but big on taste and presentation. The relaxation room was my favourite – wonderfully comfortable day beds, where you could snuggle under a duvet and read, or I my case nod off. And then there was the lovely Tamsin waiting for me at the allotted time for my Rose Cocoon Body Wrap – heaven, four days later and I can still feel the benefit.
The hardest part about visiting Grayshott is leaving, the brochure says, ‘Health on departure’; frankly I think ‘Happy on departure’ would be more accurate. I warmly recommend a visit to Grayshott to anyone, if any husbands are stuck for Christmas present ideas here’s the answer.
My wife and I arrived at the Grayshott Spa on a cold and dark winter day in January after leaving (certain amount of presuading involved) in-laws to look our two children so we could have our first break together without the children for 3 years.....
As soon as you walk through the door the relaxed and calm atmosphere hits you like a soft feather pillow and it feels fantastic.
After being given a very friendly tour of the hotel by one of the staff we were shown to our room which was a beautiful suite with great views over the grounds and had a wonderful bathroom with a rainhead shower and different types of soaps, lotions. I must say I am not normally into that kind of thing but it seems that you sort of get caught up in the wonderful relaxed atmosphere and find yourself having long showers and applying different smelling lotions all the time.
It was my first time at a Spa so I was a little anxious about the dress code and if i could walk about in the towelling robe and slippers they provide but everything was so relaxed and easy I didn't have to worry as breakfast and lunch were a casual affair and if you wanted you could turn up in your robe and for dinner I wore Jeans and a t-shirt without feeling underdressed. The food was very impressive and the combinations of flavours were beautiful as you could taste every herb and spice.
The whole experience was fantastic and after just two days which was sadly how long it lasted I felt fully refreshed and ready for the next three years until our next break without the children......
