The positives:
beautiful grounds
friendly young receptionist
amazing outdoor jacuzzi
the best earl grey tea
beautiful china
The negatives:
a rude manager
towels too small
understaffed
afternoon tea average (run out of scones, not given jam)
service poor
hairdryer in room broken
sauna not working
food poor quality
no fresh fruit at breakfast
only one pillow per guest
robes inadequate and not spa quality
poorly organised
With a few tweaks this place could be worthy of its 4 star award.
The facilities are good. A fairly large indoor pool. The same shallow depth but able to have a swim. The steam room was working but small, but the sauna wasn’t available. There was an indoor jacuzzi with comfortable room for 4 people. But the best thing was the outdoor large ‘hot spring’ pool. Large enough for 10 people. But it looked like there we’re bubbles available but these weren’t working. The bread for the afternoon tea was a bit stale, but the scones were warm and lovely.
The hotel is set in lovely grounds & has easy parking.
Spa area is compact but has everything you need & was clean & tidy. Pool is a reasonable size & well kept. The jacuzzi looks out to a sunny courtyard & the outdoor hot tub was a very pleasant surprise, up a small slope.
Massage was fantastic.
Was slightly disappointed a soft drink was not included with the two course lunch but an iced carafe of water was very welcome on such a hot, sunny day.
Enjoyed the visit & would return.
Poor attention to detail
Firstly greeted by a less than bothered man who gave us the smallest marked and tatty towels ( 1 each)
Unisex changing rooms we did not expect or enjoy at all as towels barely covered us
Felt like i was at campsite changing rooms or cheap swimming pool
No one anywhere to be found to ask for help or more towels
Treatment was wonderful but no-one to ask where to go or what to do
Sun beds so close together they were so awkward to get on and of and felt too close for comfort
