I'm so sad to say that this was unfortunately really disappointing. The advertisement has a brand name - I was therefore expecting a salon, but it's actually in someone's living room. I've seen many therapists who work from home before but this has always been in a room in the house that's been turned into a home 'office / salon' - my treatments took place in a family room with 80s decor and family photos overlooking the massage table and the noise of the flyover outside - scarcely masked by the pop music that was turned on once the session started. I'm sorry to say it wasn't a relaxing environment to be in at all.
The actual deep tissue massage was formulaic. Past therapists have always worked muscles that required extra attention and given them more time. I feel like perhaps the therapist had a formula that's used on everyone and for this reason muscles didn't get the extra attention they needed. I also felt like she was skimping on the oil as there was a lot of chafing. She didn't ask me if I liked or wanted to be vigorously hit as other therapists have always done so - If she had asked, I'd have said no. There's an issue of consent there.
The Indian head massage was a lot of hair pulling. I usually get so relaxed during an Indian head massage that I'm on the verge of sleep... there was no actual massage on pressure points, at all. Zero. Just a lot of hair pulling and it hurt so much.
She also had to leave the room in the middle of the session to answer the door to a family member, and then I could hear them moving around the house outside the room.
Regarding payment - she was surprised when I asked if she had a machine so I could make a card payment. The advertisement doesn't make clear this is at someone's house and not at a vetted salon. Had this been made clear I'd have been better informed and could have taken out cash in advance, but she seemed unhappy that I hadn't brought cash and made me feel like it was my fault. I paid the next day with a bank transfer as I didn't get home until late on the day of the treatment, but in that short space received a threatening text reminding me to pay and saying that she was going to inform Treatwell of delayed payment as I didn't pay on the day.
Unsurprisingly, I won't be returning.
Very good massage, pleasant environment and Angela was understanding of my needs as had muscle problems. Relaxing but firm at the same time. I went early evening so was able to park literally outside. Would recommend especially to ladies. Thank you Angela.
Angela is amazing. Very friendly and best massage therapist. Highly recommend. Had a few massages but can honestly say that here is what you get 100% relaxation.
