Room was nice, even had a balcony. Though only one chair. Used the saunas -they have 2 saunas -one for men, one for women.
But the stay was overall disappointing because of the food. The food was OK, but we stayed at the Mercure Georgian Bolton last year and the food there was fantastic. The menu is very similar, but the quality is not, which is a real shame.
The food in the restaurant was excellent, and portion sizes were huge! Could barely walk afterwards....The facilities are a bit dated, but very clean and in good working condition. A friend who had a facial said it was really good! Will be going again!
The hotel itself is lovely, the bedroom needed refurbing and the spa facilities were very run down. I wouldn't go back to this hotel as a spa break, shouldn't really be advertised as a spa weekend.
When we arrived at the hotel we were told that our room wasn't ready yet, but was being done as a priority and wouldn't take no longer than 10 mins and was asked to take a seat in the lounge. The did come and tell us our room was ready about 5 mins later and checked us in.
The room was very basic but was clean and comfortable.
I booked in for an indian head massage and the staff were very friendly and apologetic, they offered me a drink whilst I was waiting for my treatment as the person who was in before me was 10 minutes late for their appointment and had put the therapist behind.
The deal advertised that dinner was 3 courses but when we got to the restaurant we found that the hotel put a limit of £22 per person on a prebooked dinner package. With the prices of the courses it is impossible to be able to get 3 courses for your £22. The staff at the restaurant messed up our order and a couple of other tables orders whilst we were in there and we were left waiting ages for them to sort the order out.
