I paid £280 which is a huge amount of money and it was nothing like I expected. I feel very let down. On arrival, having never been before, I was met with a very tepid welcome. I was expected huge smiles and a warm friendly welcome. Not so. I was not shown to my room either, bear in mind there were 2 staff on reception and no one but me waiting. Plus it’s a very large place and easy to get lost in..Instead I was pointed in the direction and the same with the spa. I went to the spa thinking they would have me down as I had booked a 90 minute treatment. No so. Apparently you have to book the spa yourself. I was not made aware of this when I booked. Therefore I could not have my 90 in one go. I had to have one at 4.30 one at 7pm & the last one at 9.30. So I only received two 25 minutes & one 15 minutes so only 65 minutes in total & not 90 mins. I was very upset & disappointed having paid so much money . I could not use the swimming pool because of this.. swimming is a total relaxation for me and I wanted to swim for a few hours on the day of my arrival & after breakfast on the day I left. I could not do this because of the staggered treatments.. the treatment I had on the morning I left, a scrub, meant I couldn’t use the pool after. I love to swim.. also I booked a double room but had a single bed. I have not slept in a single bed since I was 12.. the man on reception said he could push them together?! I could do that! I wanted a proper double. He said they didn’t have any in the entire hotel... really? I. complained to the duty manager and asked for an upgrade with a proper bed. He did this and the bed was a proper double bed. Strange.. also I was disappointed that there no gestures like a welcoming glass of prosseco. nothing. They also only left me 3 teabags... I arrived at 2pm .. the duty manager said they try to stop any waste ? I was like, leave me loads & if I don’t use them the next guest etc would. I really thought I was going to get 5* treatment... I’ve paid less elsewhere & got SO much more.. even dinner was disappointing..menu very limited. I’m a vegetarian..on leaving the hotel I asked at reception for some form of refund as I didn’t get my full 90 mins so they refunded £60 ( for treatment time I didn’t have) but I had to ask..but nothing for my trouble.. it should of been forthcoming... & I expected at least £100 back...customer service very poor too...
Staff were really friendly, dinner was great, the standard room spacious with our own balcony looking over the golf course, nespresso machine with coffee capsuales & bottles of water provided. The pool was peaceful with a good amount of loungers and we enjoyed the sauna, steam room and jacuzzi. All was very clean and our treatments were excellent. However, the hotel lacked character/ambience and we sadly couldn’t check into our room until 6PM (instead of 2pm) as a bunch of footballers had overstayed their welcome. We were given complimentary drinks at the bar and the staff were apologetic but this was really really disappointing. Lastminute/Treatwell had also not sent them the details of our payment through so we nearly got charged twice! And the email address for booking spa treatments is wrong on the lastminute website - it’s spa@eastsussexnational.co.uk for anyone who needs it!
Mix up with rooms so not good . No sunbed s in pool area as people put towel s on them and go off for day .

We went for my friends 30th and had an briiliant time. The facial was amazing and the spa facilities were in a nice relaxing atmosphere. The jacuzzi wasn't working but this wasn't a problem. Would definitely visit again.
