I went in for a block colour , trim and fringe cut. The girl was nice and gave me the colour folder and then asked which one I liked. I told her my hair doesn't colour easily and I needed something that would not fade out, I was fed up of regrowth and wanted a brown all over. I showed her a few I liked and asked if she thought my hair would take, I specifically asked about my routes and she said there was no issue, just my ends she was worried about because they were dry, so she'd keep the dye on a little longer. My hair was dark blonde and I was going a to a light to medium brown. When washing it out she told me there was more warmth than she expected, I thought she meant it was darker and I said I don't care because I want it to last longer and look healthy. Then I got to the mirror and saw the results, All of my routes were ORANGE. Not just with a bit of warmth, they were actually orange. I asked her what was going on and she said it was route glow, something I have never heard of. I said I've been heaving my hair died every two to three months for 15 years and I have never had route glow. In my own mind I was thinking I'd never left a hairdressers with routes a different colour to the rest of my hair. EVER. She said to wait for her to dry it and yes of course it blended in a little but there were still bright orange routes. She cut my hair and that was fine, she's good at cutting. She did comment on how bad a job the hairdresser before had done on my hair, which I am used to by now, all hairdressers comment on the last one, but this was ridiculous that someone was making these comments when I was about to leave like this! Anyway, I gave her the benefit of the doubt, said I'd wait five days and wash it a few times to see if this "route glow" disappeared. As soon as I saw my brother he was shocked at my hair, as was everyone else. But I waited then I called up because it was still not gone and I had a wedding that weekend that I was photographing, I couldn't go like that. The manager told me they never get complaints and he'll ask her what happened, he put me down about my complaint too, made me feel like I was lying (I took photographs). I told him when I needed it done by and he said he'd call me when he had space. The day before the wedding I had a phone call to ask when I'd like to come in for him to see it, he said he'd told the girl and it had made her cry and again, they never get complaints. I was made to feel really bad about this and I have never returned to a hairdressers or given a bad review, this is the first time. Anyway I told him I'd run out of time, he knew when I needed it by and it was too late, I'd have to put a semi-perm on it for the wedding. He said I could come in for a free shampoo some time if I wanted!! I paid for a professional colour, came out with orange routes and I'm told I can have a free shampoo in return?! I will never return here and I warn you to think twice, I saw the good reviews and couldn't believe how bad it was along with the customer service. The salon isn't particularly nice either and didn't feel clean. I'm really disappointed in this place. They also asked me to give them the details of my orders and the rice I paid so they could work out what cut Wahanda were taking and asked me to move my original appointment because Wahanda messed it up and he didn't want to stay late that night. Very unprofessional.
The salon said tried to phone me to cancel the booking as they were fully booked. However I did not receive any calls and Peter, the owner, re-allocated some bookings and after a short wait I was given my appointment. It was a good result for me, even though the lady who did my hair was less than accomodating/friendly.
