Lovely little place and really well decorated. The staff are lovely. Really friendly and welcoming but unobtrusive. The therapist was quick, and thorough. What more can i ask for? It was especially a bargain with the voucher and I will definitely be back.
Friendly therapists in this basement retreat made up for the noise from the hair salon above! The pedicure was more like a file and shape service, which was disappointing as I'd been expecting a foot soak for my tired paws, but I was very pleased with the finish.
I went to The Retreat at the very end of August to get a gel manicure and a luxury pedicure ready for my holiday in early September. Jade did both my treatments - she was very chatty, welcoming, and keen for me to unwind and relax, especially since it was my first gel manicure. She paid attention to detail and they do look gorgeous, so fingers crossed they last as long as I want them to!
I also had the luxury pedicure, which was good as I wanted to get rid of all my dead skin on my feet! Jade helped pick a normal nail varnish shade that would match the gels and she also advised me on what to do with a spilt nail on my big toe, which was very helpful. It was really lovely and relaxing, although I think she may have missed a little bit of the dead skin.
The treatment room is quite small and cosy in the basement of a hair salon so you just have to go straight downstairs when you enter, but both Jade and her colleagues are very welcoming and warm, and put you completely at ease straight away. At the end of my treatment, I did get the feeling I was being rushed out, as I was the last customer and it was getting late, but on the whole I enjoyed my treatments there. The location is handy and I would definitely recommend to others.
I ordered my voucher on the train on my way into Oxford Street and popped into The Retreat to see if they had any appointments that same day. The Therapist had a busy day but managed to find some time for me which I greatly appreciated. The gel manicure itself was great and I am very pleased with the outcome. I think the price I paid was well worth it.
I had a 30 minute back, neck and shoulders massage, which was excellent from start to finish. The therapist was extremely welcoming and attentive. She asked me what kind of pressure I wanted and which areas I wanted her to concentrate on. The massage itself was one of the best I've had. Although it was slightly painful at times (no pain, no gain if you want to work through muscle tension), it definitely felt like it was achieving something good! I wouldn't hesitate to return, and am considering going back for the same treatment in a few weeks' time.
