Sorry to say but every time I go and get a wax done, I feel as if I have to apologise for having thick Afro hair as my hair is thicker than the average white woman . I trim my hair and somehow have to finish the rest home, and this is supposed to be a Hollywood wax.. I don't have a massive bush or mound but I feel as if I should consider beauticians used to Afro hair as this service is not suitable for black people. Anyone know beauticians in east London who can Hollywood wax black women
Before COVID used to get manicures every 2-3 weeks and pedicures every 2-3 months for years so I do know what is good and not so good based on various salon experiences.
I have tried this salon for the first time as I was in the area. Staff is friendly and nice, changed the appointment to start a little bit earlier when requested the last minute, facilities clean and well maintained, COVID rulers adhered and feels welcoming.
Regarding manicure and pedicure - where to start...
Pedicure - shame I can’t upload pictures... Cuticles are sticking out uncut on some toes. Calluses (the hardened skin) not removed at all really as used quite fine file for a couple of minutes on each foot with quite little of strength applied. Came home and used Ped Egg to remove dead skin from feet. Filled Ped Egg half way full and still haven’t removed all. Removal of dead hardened skin is the main thing expected from pedicure.
Manicure - pictures would describe it best but will try to describe. Nails are not soaked. Cuticle softener applied but not softened enough prior to cutting and cut just at the root of the nail not sides. After asking why are sides not cut there was an attempt made to try to cut but not very successfully. Day after little painful and sticking out sharp. Apparently not soaked because the gel wouldn’t hold on well However for pedicure it seams okay to soak and gel holds fine. So that’s quite a contradiction. Gel applied over some cuticles.
The feet and hand massage was nice. Good quality OPI products used.
