The spa itself was great, nice facilities, nice decor but the hotel was disappointing. The rooms and bathroom were basic and there was a strong, musty smell in the conservatory where they serve breakfast.
Extremely dissatisfied with our stay on the 18th/19th October. At around 8pm in the evening an event started directly below our room. The bass from the music was so loud that our room was shaking for several hours. Went down to complain to the night manager at 11.30 who stated the music would be stopping then and apologised. The music started again at midnight for several more songs before finally stopping for the night.
Night manager offered a complimentary nights stay, refused and asked for a full refund as we hadn't paid money to sleep above a "club" for a relaxing spa weekend away. This was agreed and he left a note for reception the next day.
Upon checking out was told that the manager was not authorised to offer this and the decision had to be made by the owner, upon writing an email and sending it on the 19th October I still have not had a response.
We were also told that upon booking or checking in that we should have been made aware that an event was taking place. We were not on either occasion. If we were advised we would not have booked the stay.
If you're paying for a relaxing weekend away at a spa, I strongly recommend looking elsewhere. Regardless of being told an event is taking place, no room in a hotel should "shake" from music that's too loud.
The Spa experience was fantastic. The swimming pool is a decent size and the sauna and steam room were clean. When I went with my friend on a Saturday afternoon and following morning, the facilities were not busy so we had a relaxing time. Dinner was really nice, two courses from the menu. The breakfast was a bit disappointing as the continental buffet was a bit poor, not a lot of choice but the conservatory we had it in was overlooking the golf course which was spectacular. The only negative point was the décor. It is really dated and it needs a good revamp. Saying that, our twin room was massive and clean. The overall interior is very old, with cheap old furniture, carpets and curtains. A great stay, highly recommended.
We wanted a short two day spa break reasonably close to home and didn't want to pay a fortune. We settled on London Beach for these reasons.Food was really good ,two courses nice quality, good choice.Breakfast fairly standard but plenty to eat.Drinks seem to be expensive everywhere now not over the top.Room was good with view over the golf course.Nice pool and jacuzzi steam room and sauna.Good location we strolled into Tenterden lovely town for a cream tea and different shops.Golf course at the hotel if thats your thing.
Great spa break, enormous clean room. Buffet breakfast didn't seem to match up to the quality of the rest of the stay but overall we were happy with our stay.
