Typically I don’t leave such negative reviews but I would like to prevent what happened to me from happening to someone else.
There were a few strange things about this pregnancy massage - first being that the therapist told me (not asked) that she was going to have me lay on my stomach because I’m “only 4 months” (even though when I went to another place at 12 weeks they had me on my side) I probably should have walked away right then but I decided to trust.
Next I was not asked about any problem areas - that’s never happened to me in a professional massage before.
Finally, the pressure was extremely intense to the point of being painful at times. I like a very strong massage but if you’re pregnant you hear over and over again about being careful because hormones make your tissue and ligaments extremely loose - so it seemed strange that the pressure was so strong and that the therapist was popping and cracking various joints.
After the massage I felt ok, the next day I was sore.
The next night I woke up with excruciating back pain and needed to go to A&E to rule out anything serious. They told me it looked like a sprain and sent me home to wait it out. The next 24 hours were the most painful of my life and 3 days later I still can’t walk, eat or shower without my husband helping me.
I can’t know for certain that it was this massage but given what happened I think it was definitely a factor.
That was the best massage I've ever had. My therapist knew exactly where the pain symtops were in my body and even managed to find tension in my stomach that I wasn't aware of. Worth every penny.
