I was booked a pregnancy massage as a birthday gift. When I arrived at the salon the receptionist was lovely and offered me a cold glass of water. I was a little early so made a quick trip to the bathroom, as many of us pregnant ladies do and thought to myself, this place looks nice. I'm looking forward to my massage.
The masseuse arrived, didn't introduce herself, but ushered me to follow her to the therapy room. She walked off so quickly, she was downstairs at the room by the time I reached the top of the stairs! Again I'm pregnant, so maybe a little slow.. The masseuse told me to get undressed and lie face down, to which I told her I couldn't because this is a pregnancy massage and I'm almost 6 months pregnant. So I was given a pillow and told to lie on my side. To be fair, she did come back with another pillow to put in between my legs, but when I asked for another one to support my bump you'd think I'd asked for the moon.. as a result I was given a folded towel.
The massage in itself was pleasant. But I asked for the pressure to be a little stronger as I've had a really achy back and neck. She (I still didn't know her name) applied further pressure and continued the rest of the massage. An hour seemed to go very quickly and when the masseuse was finished, she asked if I wanted some water. I got dressed very quickly and explained I needed to go toilet again. The water that was given was tepid and tasted like it had been taken from the bathroom tap - not the water cooler (which was adjacent to the bathroom). I left the water on the table and left. The masseuse was stood outside the room on her phone talking to a man. Didn't even acknowledge me walking past or even ask if I enjoyed my massage.
I promptly left, no friendly receptionist upstairs. No one even said goodbye as I left you the salon. Happy Birthday I thought to myself. Lesson learned today - Save yourself £70 and buy your next massage on Groupon! You can get 2 for the price if one and the customer service is generally better!
By the way, 2 days later, my back is sore and my neck still hurts... Don't bother with a massage at this salon!
