I went to Mottram day spa with my mum and sister for my birthday treat. In the car park the trees were full of autumn colour and there were gorgeous begonias in the gardens at the front of the hall. I explained at the reception that I had not been able to book our treatments, but we were given an info card and chose from there. The changing rooms were quite small but had everything, and the lockers were easy to use. The waiting room was very relaxing, we were called for our treatments before we could fall asleep! My mum and I chose the relaxing back and facial. I asked for a more intense massage on my shoulders and my knots were well worked on! The facial was more of a face massage. When I compared the treatment with my mum afterwards, she'd had a better facial inc. cleanse and exfoliation, so I was a bit disappointed - but I'd had a longer massage which I'd asked for. The treatment bed was really comfortable.
Then it was lunchtime. The mushroom soup was delicious! There was pasta, noodles and lots of salad, hummus, cheese, yogurt and granola. You do have to pay for drinks from the bar, but we were happy with the lemon and cucumber water. We then relaxed by the pool (big enough for a good swim) and
I tried out all the steam/sauna rooms. The sauna and brechel room outside were not very hot, and the plunge pool was not working. There was a bit of litter and a couple of wet towels left on the beds, and a bit of a wet dog smell. I did enjoy the steam and jacuzzi, and it's a nice setting surrounded by trees. We left feeling relaxed and that we had had a lovely treat.
Having been to Mottram Hall before, our visit was largely good as expected, great welcome, lovely atmosphere and facilities. Unfortunately the indoor jacuzzi was out of order and one of the outdoor saunas wasn't fully working. Additionally, the cleanliness or impression of it, was reduced when looking at the stained outdoor seating and some of the indoor seating could have been cleaner as well. Otherwise the facilities were as expected - clean, high standard. My treatment and lunch were great too!
