I bought my sister a full-body massage for her 50th birthday, but the experience was disappointing. She was forced to wear used communal slippers despite offering to wear her own clean indoor slippers and asking for a fresh pair. She was then assigned a male therapist despite requesting a female. When she declined, she was told she’d lose her booking fee and couldn’t reschedule. What should have been a special gift became an upsetting and uncomfortable experience.
