A very relaxing and pampered experience. My boyfriend came too and was offered chocolate biscuits, a coffee and a paper. The cut is just what I asked for, and because I was going to a Christmas party Jade took the time to dry it really nicely, using rollers. Not rushed, high quality, friendly staff.
For the past couple of months I've been undecided about writing a review for this salon, because: a) They were nice people, and I enjoyed my time there. b) I don't like to be negative - and potentially hurt someones business.
The reason I've decided, after two months, to write this review is to protect someone else from the likelihood of a bad haircut - as mine was.
For over thirty years I've worn my hair long ... well, just beyond my shoulder blades to mid back. It's wavy and has always been layered. A lot of the time I tie my hair up, I wind it round itself and thread it through the coil of hair, making a sort of bun. No bands, just my hair tied by itself and it stays put - I've that type of hair. I've been doing this since it was long enough - as I said, over thirty years.
When I have my hair trimmed I usually explain to the hairdresser that I often tie it up, so don't want too much cut off.
A couple of months before venturing here I had trim and decided to keep the layers long to see how it worked out. It didn't. It was too bulky around my neck and didn't hang as well - this result had been predicted by the hairdresser. However, I could always tie it up, and still it looked fine when I had it professionally styled, as i tend to every couple of weeks inbetween trims.
At One 2 Three, I explained that I wanted very little taken off from the ends as I'd decided to grow it longer but wanted the layers to be shortened. The hairdresser didn't look pleased with my request and said she didn't think she could do that. I couldn't imagine why not, and told her it was too bulky and that the layers were usually shorter than this, but to keep the length as long as possible, explaining again that I wanted to grow it longer. This, I reiterated several times.
One surprise was that I wasn't consulted about how I wanted my hair blow dried. The result wasn't as I'd have wanted it but wasn't a disaster. The problem was the cut ... and still is.
For the first time in decades my hair is too short to tie up, this is two months after it was cut here. It's bushier around the sides than it was before the cut, indeed, there's like a shelf of hair, as if my hair is bobbed to jaw length, to which some hair extensions have been added to give it length. :(
The other lady, the older of the two whom I believe is the proprietress, could be a decent hair stylist but I won't try to find out.
