I loved my haircut. Jordan is super nice and the whole team cheerful and professional. Loved the ambiance.
I paid £81 for a full head of highlights at the Painted Lady and left the salon with purple roots.
As soon as I got home I washed my hair hoping it would come out. It didn't. In fact I had to wash my hair five times within the first week of getting it done to see the purple eventually fade to an awful dark grey.
After the purple/grey was gone from my hair, it looked as if I hadn't even had my regrowth done to start with.
I contacted the salon and Treatwell asking for a refund. I spoke with Belinda who I believe runs the salon. She was condescending and extremely unhelpful.
She explained to me that my purple hair was the fault of the toner not the hairdresser who incorrectly applied it. She then refused my request for a refund and said the only option available to me was to come back into the salon to get the toner fixed.
There were two glaring problems with this response. Firstly, from the photos I sent her it was quite obvious that my regrowth hadn't been done correctly, so fiddling around with a toner for the second time wasn't going to fix that.
Secondly, she placed the onus on me to carve out even more time and go back to her salon to fix the problem, rather than doing the appropriate thing and admitting a mistake had been made and granting me a refund. I have an extremely busy job, and tried to explain to Belinda that finding time to get my hair done in the first place had proved difficult for me - so carving out another day to fix a dodgy job was simply not going to work.
I also didn't think a request for a refund was in any way unreasonable since I didn't get the service I paid for, and will now incur additional costs having to get my regrowth done again sooner than I would have liked.
I can't insert pictures of my hair here, but this was honestly the worst it has looked in over 15 years of getting my highlights done.
I was really upset by this whole experience. I love getting my hair done because it makes me feel renewed and confident. After my appointment with the Painted lady, and the back and forth emails asking for a refund - which subsequently amounted to nothing - I felt taken advantage of and like I had really wasted my hard earned money.
I know that none of this was done intentionally, and the hairdresser who did my hair was a lovely guy, but I am really hurt by how easily Belinda ignored my concerns and took absolutely no accountability for her salons mistake.
I would sadly not recommend this salon to anyone, I will never go back.
Really happy with the hair cut and service provided. Definitely recommend and I’ll go back there for my next hair cut
