I loved this treatment, having been to turkey and had this when the offer came up I had to get it. The treatment was amazing left my skin feeling clean and soft. 2 points i did not like about this was the location and the time it took to make a appointment. If this was in a different location I would go back but at the moment its a bit out of the way. Let me know if you open somewhere in central london
First of all, this place was incredibly hard to book, you have to use their online system whick asks for credit card details, when I rang to say I had already paid etc, I was given a big run around. It took several phone calls to get a final booking.
This "hammam" is a single room in an odd, possibly dodgy hotel in Camberwell. The staff were sweet, if inept. I thought we were going to have a massage or body scrub but actually we were given some soaps and loofah type things and a thin cotton wrap and left to our own devices.
The whole place has a very DIY quality to it. We were led to a small sitting room lit mostly by tea lights and told to change in a very dark alcove with some home-made cupboards for our things, these could not be locked.
The hammam room itself ahs nice marbel surfaces and basins but the was mold and mildew on the ceiling and not much hot water.
We had to ask for towels, the robes were made of paper, the kind you sprout plants in. There was one small mirror with a little hair dryer that promptly died - so we had to ask for another one.
The Wahanda website requires you to enter the name of each person you want to include and in doing so, I bought two vouchers when I actually only needed one for the two of us.
So, all in all, strange and stressful, also expensive and not satisfying experience,
If you want to feel really clean this treatment is for you ! Black soap, Olive oil soap massage and cleansing mud all left me feeling incredibly lazy but very very clean. Nice way to spend a rainy Sunday afternoon. If you have never had one try it .
I wasn't sure what to expect of the hamman treatment. I went with my boyfriend and the location was a bit odd. We had two male therapists who were really good and made us feel very comfortable. The room was great. The only downside was we felt a bit rushed out of there at the end.
Pasha is easy enough to find, as long as you are looking out for a hotel and not a beauty shop. Once inside your welcomed and offered Turkish tea, which was very nice. My therapist came and escorted me to my room to get changed. I was asked if I had brought my swim suit, when I said I hadn't as I didn't know what to expect. I was quickly given two Turkish towels and told to cover myself in a potent mixture called black soap.I was taken into the steam room and wetted down with warm water. Then the scrubbing began, it lifted off all the dead skin and leaves you feeling light and your body feeling so clean and soft. After this, you are washed down again and covered in bubbles and massaged. Bliss. Would I recommend this treatment, definitely. The only thing I would do differently is bring my swimming costume. Also, don't expect to have a changing room to yourself, after 10 minutes of being by myself another woman was shown into my room. Luckily, by the time she walked in, I was being shown into the steam room, but my belongings and clothes were left in the room.
Once finished you can relax in the changing room and given more Turkish tea and fruit (Sliced oranges)
