Firstly, this hotel is not in the best area and that may put people off, but it really shouldn't! We had an amazingly good time. The booking process with the hotel I found to be really flawed and difficult because there is no facility to be sure the Wahanda 'pre-payment' is being recognised - you have to book everything as if you were booking and paying with them directly. I did so, and added my voucher deals into the notes section, then had to call a few times before I felt comfortable, but on arrival everything was fine so I had prob been worried about nothing. The staff were very friendly and helpful. They allowed us to check in earlier than usual due to the time of our hammam booking. The rooms were perfectly fine - our beds had orthopaedic mattresses and the bathrooms were lovely (I’m now a rain shower convert!). There were four of us in my party, so had the hammam to ourselves. Ours was a 'self-service' session so we were each given pouches with some black soap, a scrub mitt, olive oil soap and a pumice stone led to the hammam and set to work! We were offered additional treatments for an extra charge and although we didn’t feel pressurised to do so, we did opt to pay extra for a volcanic ash mud treatment each which really did leave our skin feeling extra soft & smooth. At the end of our session we were brought some complimentary Turkish tea and given time to relax before re-dressing and heading back to our rooms. Dinner was another surprising treat! On Sunday nights they run a Buffet Starter, so we helped ourselves to a selection of the wonderful traditional food they had to offer. We each a different main course and I opted for the slow cooked lamb with roasted apple & potato which was really, really nice. The wine with dinner was great - a pleasant surprise considering our meal & wine was included in our wahanda voucher, so I expected basic. The restaurant decor was cool, with both standard tables or for those looking for something more authentic, there were low floor tables with cushions....quite the most relaxing and lazy meal I’ve ever had! In the morning breakfast service was a little slow and not of the best quality, but I’m willing to give them the benefit of the doubt that it could be because we were quite late to get down there. Orange juice, Tea, Toast & jam followed by a choice of either a small full English, or scrambled eggs. Took a while, but had it not been for the delay i'd have been perfectly happy - again, this was included in our wahanda vouchers. Overall - a thoroughly good deal and I’ll definitely consider going back!
We had a fab time. The treatment was surprising, lots of giggles, and soooo relaxing. Can't speak highly enough of the way we were made to feel at ease and treated from going through the door 'til leaving over two hours later. The staff were friendly and professional and so helpful. It really was a lovely experience and we would certainly consider travelling from Nottinghamshire again another day.
I went to the Turkish bath with my family. The deal was a bit misleading as I was expecting a 1 hour treatment including a body scrub but I had a phone call the day before informing me that treatments would be extra. Still we managed to have an enjoyable experience.
Changing room is a little dark and cold. Bath itself is fine, marble clad but can be a little warmer. Generally ok if you are there with friends but a little self-conscious when other strangers joined in the room. No shower facilities, so this lady had to wash her hair and shower (in her bikini) next to us. Not very pleasant to have shampoo and water splashing across when you're trying to relax and chill out. Therapists were friendly and chatty, generally good time but not sure I would go back.
Very dark changing room and can be a little chilly. Hammam itself will be nice if private use but with other strangers sharing it was a little ackward. The men who give you the treatment are very friendly and chatty. A little disconcerting at first for both myself and hubby to have strange man rub you, but once you get over it the treatment is nice and relaxing, especially the warm soap bubbles. Enjoyed it but not sure I would come back. no shower facilities so lady washed her hair and showered in her bikini next to us. Not pleasant...
