First of all, Pasha was surprisingly easy to get to and get home from - bus stops going in both directions are almost right on the doorstep. When we entered, I noticed how lovely the reception area was, with comfy seating, modern lighting, magazines and internet for customers to use, and we were warmly greeted. We were asked to complete client info forms and given delicious turkish tea. Before going through to the Hamam, we were asked if we had any valuables which we wanted to leave with Reception for safekeeping, as there are cupboards in the Hamam changing rooms where you can put your clothes, but these do not lock. The changing rooms are scented and candlelit, the seating is comfortable even though waterproof, and there is a lovely ornate metal water jug and cups there in case you are thirsty and a bowl of fruit in case you are hungry. The Hamam attendant explained that we should change our clothes and go through to the Hamam where we would find 2 other customers who were having treatments which we could see. Everyone was very friendly and we had a lovely relaxing and fun hour in the steam room. The treatments looked excellent and I wished we had been able to book them in advance but unfortunately although we had asked about this by email and by phone beforehand, the staff who handled our enquiries seemed not to speak sufficient English to answer our questions adequately, so we could only watch the other guests enjoying them. All treatments were done in the Hamam, so although the attendants were both male, it did not feel at all awkward or uncomfortable, but very professional, and the products used were very good quality. The black soap with eucalyptus gave off a lovely scent which we noticed as soon as we entered the Hamam. The stone slab was not as unbearably hot as others I have experienced, it was comfortable and pleasant. Mid way through one of the attendants brought us cups of water to drink too, which was unexpected and most welcome. At the end of our session, we were given towels and left to relax in the changing area. We were also brought more delicious turkish tea and slices of orange sprinkled with cinnamon as well as a portable phone which you can use to call reception if you want anything else. There is an area of the changing room that is behind a curtain so you can change your clothes in privacy away from the other guests. There is also a large mirror on the wall in that area, but I couldn't see anything in it because the candles gave off insufficient light and also it was all steamed up. There is a small mirror and hairdryer in the main changing room area. After we relaxed and dressed, we went through to the restaurant for a delicious meal. Again in here the staff were friendly and professional and the decor transports you to another world - or at least another part of the world, a long way from Camberwell! The starter buffet was plentiful and tasty and the main course choices different and interesting. We sat very comfortably barefoot on rugs and cushions on low platforms, there was plenty of room to relax and hours flew by before we knew it. We would have happily stayed for much longer, but had to leave this lovely oasis and head home.
The booking system was unclear, but the staff were very helpful when I called to confirm. The changing facilties were quite limited but the overall experience was very relaxing and excellent value for money.

It was a real treat to relax in the hammam, be exfoliated by the professional therapists working there and finish up with a delicious meal in the hotel restaurant. I really hope to go again before too long! I was really looking forward to this after visiting a hammam during a trip to Istanbul but at the same time was a little nervous that it might not live up to my expectations, especially as I was taking my mum along as a treat whilst she was visiting me in London for the weekend. We both work in the health and beauty industry, so our expectations are fairly high! In fact, I needn't have worried at all; we had excellent service throughout and enjoyed ourselves immensely. We arrived rather early, feeling a bit worn out after a long day dashing around London and were made welcome by the reception staff with delicious Turkish tea provided as we waited and relaxed in the reception area. During this time, one of the friendly massage therapists came to chat to us and explain the services that were available if we wanted exfoliation, massage or a mask application during our session. The treatments were well explained and good advice provided without any pressure to buy. We opted for the full body exfoliation, carried out with a coarse mitt. We changed in the area adjacent to the hammam, where we found a couple in the process of dressing following their session. Now, this was the only aspect of the session where I could suggest a small improvement; a unisex hammam is fine by me but a unisex changing room is perhaps taking things a bit too far! Also there were no keys available for the lockers, although our belongings were fine during our session. We sat and steamed away peacefully for a while before two therapists wearing traditional Turkish towels arrived. They explained the procedure before carrying out a thorough exfoliation on our skin, rinsing us off with alternately warm and cool water and coating us with foam created by blowing up a pillowcase soaked in warm soapy water and squeezing the air through it. The male therapists were both very professional and carried out the treatment thoroughly and effectively but without making us feel at all uncomfortable. After changing, we went to eat in the restaurant, which serves a variety of central Asian dishes. On a trip to Russia I had seen that Kazakh food is very popular there and wanted to try it but had not found a Kazakh restaurant there that served vegetarian food. Here there was no problem; pretty much each dish on the menu had a vegetarian equivalent. I had a salad starter, some delicious vegetable dumplings served with a tasty chilli dip and soured cream and crispy baklava to finish. Sitting on the raised ledge with cushions at a low table with delicious food was a perfect way to finish the evening, rather than dashing straight back out in the cold. They even had a singer performing as everyone ate. Following the treatment I felt very relaxed and my skin was fantastically smooth for days afterwards. I need to get one of those mitts!
