This was the first time I've ever had a manicure, so I was really looking forward to it. However, it was an awful experience, verging on traumatic. I had to wait 40 minutes for my appointment since the stylist Karina was running late. That wasn't a problem in itself, I understand that these things happen, but she then seemed very stressed and harassed when I wanted to go ahead with both my appointments for manicure and pedicure but she was still friendly at this point. The pedicure seemed to go ok at the time, though got a bit messed up afterwards as no one had told me I needed to bring flip flops to wear home (in my naivety I assumed the pedicure would be allowed to dry in the salon. But the shellac nails went disastrously wrong and were all lumpy and puckered in places, there was also bits of fluff in the varnish from when she had used some cotton wool over my nails but not bothered to clean it off. I got the impression that this had all happened because she was hurrying trying to make up time for having been late with her previous appointment. when I tried to gently ask why the shellac was all lumpy and puckered, she wouldn't meet my eye and mumbled that she didn't know. Eventually she said 'Do you want me to just take it off then', in a really pissed off, annoyed voice. This seemed a bit unfair since it looked AWFUL, like a small child had painted my nails, so I really wasn't being difficult. She took it off, and agreed to do a normal polish manicure instead but the whole thing was very awkward by this point. The manicure itself was pretty sub-standard since she didn't take all the shellac off properly. Least relaxing experience ever in a very grubby looking and dark treatment room. I suspect I just got this place on an especially off day, even so I'd avoid anyone wanting nail treatments to avoid it all costs.
Very friendly staff and cute dogs! I was happy with my haircut and it was great value for money. Would go back.
I had my colour and cut done here and bought the first time deal for £65. The price being so cheap did scare me as i was used to paying triple that at my old salon in central london. But I was new to area and thought i'd give them a go and i'm so glad I did!! My stylist did exactly what i wanted unfortunately I can't remember her name but I do remember her amazing black and red hair!! She was lovely and really down to earth!! The salon is quirky and has dogs but I already knew this as i looked at the pictures on here so it didn't bother me!! The dogs are lovely and the salon isn't the neatest or well presented but its what makes it different! It has a really cool fun vibe in there. All of the staff that was there when i visited were lovely they make you feel welcome and they all have a laugh together which is nice to see. I'll 100% be a regular at hair and the city
I had a wash, cut and blow dry for half price and it was just ok for the price. This was my first experience at this hair salon, and was not completely satisfied. Since I hadn't had a cut for a while, I thought of trying this place to see if they could do a different style for a change. The stylist only new two things, either you grow your hair a bit longer and have it straightened or go for a Bob as before. I was disappointed and had no choice and allowed to go for the Bob. The stylist or the hairdresser did not not have a word of conversation with me during the whole time. I felt so alienated and ignored throughout. When she finished, she didn't even bother to brush off the hair from me or show the back of the hair with a mirror. So, I didn't think that they deserved a tip. I left thinking that I'd never go there again!!
It was an okay experience, however the hair wash took 15 minutes which seemed a bit long! The trim itself was good, but the hair dresser had very sharp nails, so was scratching my face a bit and pulling at my hair a fair amount. Overall, not a very relaxing experience, but a good cut in all.
