I was really disappointed with my experience. I arrived late to my treatment as I'd been held up at work and luckily was able to be seen, however I was not given any time to settle before my treatment started. Because of this I was hot and bothered and sweaty when my massage begun - I heard my massager make disgruntled remarks about this, and she proceeded to do 3/4 of my massage with a rough paper towel on top of my skin, which was really uncomfortable. The massage was also extremely rough (I now have a sore back and bruising) and it was only when I told her for the third time (she ignored me the first two times) that she gave me a gentler massage using oil. I then proceeded to have ear candles in both ears - the first ear candle was fine. However when the second candle was over, my hearing was actually worse than I started out with.
No problems with the venue. Booked 1 hour before and the email notification to the Centre went to their Spam folder but they were happy to accommodate me.
The therapist is knowledgable and strong with good pressure. The service is is great for the average person but not ideal for someone with sports injuries. I have very tight muscles in my hands, shoulders, neck, back etc. The therapist targeted the large muscles for relief but not the smaller knots and trigger points.
Visit overall was good - on time, clean, and treatment helped the problem areas. Staff's massage technique was good.
The only improvement would be on staff's skills for explanations / diagnostics on what caused the problems (stiff shoulders and lower back). The explanations / diagnostics weren't convincing - staff said that my stiff shoulders were caused by "cold air". I also felt that there was perhaps upselling involved by exaggerating the problems.
I guess I was expected physiotherapist level on this area, where the explanations / diagnostics would be based on science and with advice more along the lines of "here's what you can do in your daily routines to help prevent the problems". This venue just did not delivery that.
