Sadly this was not a good experience for me. I booked this treatment quite last minute so they hadn't received my booking when I got there so had to wait 20 minutes. However I did tell the lady when I got there that I had booked online and she didn't check it anywhere so obviously wouldn't have known about my booking.
I was taken to the room which was fine and said I wanted focus on my tight shoulders. There was no consultation and the lady spoke little English. The massage was then quite rough (I prefer a firm massage but this was indeed very ROUGH) It was a deep tissue massage but seemed to focus on my jaw quite a lot which actually really hurt. I told her it hurt and she laughed (nervously I can only presume)
There were some part of the massage that was fine but other times I felt like I was being prodded rather than being massaged.
Even little things like the towel was sometimes just on a heap on top of me and didn't really cover me up properly.
Towards the end she cleaned me off with a hot towel and then said it was finished. I looked at the clock and it she had only done half an hour for a 45 minute treatment! Part of me just wanted to leave but I couldn't justify paying £45 for 30 minute. She carried on reapplying oil and with the uncomfortable jaw massaging which I asked her again to stop.
When she finished she dried me off with the COLD wet towel she had previously used.
On the way out I was asked how the massage was and I just said fine as I wanted to get out of there!
I hadn't read reviews before I booked as it was very last minute and just went on the star rating. I would not recommended this place sadly.
I suffer from eczema on my face so visited the Health Chinese Clinic for a 45 min session. It isn't anything fancy but for the price, this place is pretty cheap considering the central location.
The therapist was perfectly nice, although didn't spend very much time considering the issue I had come to have treated, That said, she was very quick, it was completely painless and she seemed to know exactly what she was doing so time will tell whether it makes a difference to my condition.
She did mention on the way out that they offer discounts on multiple treatments which is good ot know for future bookings.
Most certainly the worst experience to date. They didn't know I had appointment - although once they checked their diary they said I was booked in but not sure what for, acupuncture? Explained it was for therapeutic massage and showed them confirmation email from Treatwell. They were still not happy! They wanted to know what I had booked and how much I had paid as that affected the treatment I would get?? I explained that I had booked via Treatwell for 60 mins Therapeutic massage. They were still not happy so I offered to phone Treatwell and started to call when suddenly they said no problem and took me upstairs. I was left in the room and told David would be with me shortly, so I waited. From outside the door he asked if I was ready- no written consultation form so I assumed he would do a verbal consultation - but nothing! The room was cold and possibly explains why he was wearing a shirt and jumper. First time I have been massaged by someone wearing a jumper! This also reflected the massage too- which differed from anything I have had before- I appreciate that there is often a difference between Chinese medicine approaches and ITEC or BTEC qualified therapists but this was 10 mins of just neck, 5 mins of head massage, a bit of back, both arms and hands and then a few minutes on the back of legs! It certainly wasn't therapeutic or effectual - he commented mid way through that I was stressed- which is pretty lame diagnosis- and not exactly in depth that some of the other reviews have stated. If ever there was a case for more regulations in massage standards that I would recommend this be placed top of the list. No after care advice, no offer of water or shown where toilets were but more worryingly no consultation - I guess few people are allergic to baby oil but he should have asked about my general health before starting the treatment.
My face was swollen for a month after the rhinoplasty, so I decided to try Lymphatic Drainage massage on my face, since I've previously had a good experience with this clinic ...I can see a big difference after only one treatment and I'll definitely come back!
The appointment started late and the reflexology I had was very painful and extremely non relaxing. It had the opposite effect desired and I was very disappointed. It was a total waste of money.
