I won't be going back. The treatment room was in an office block off the kitchen. People could be heard talking and laughing when the music wasn't playing. She was late for the treatment. Didn't apologise. Didn't fill out a customer card so didn't know anything about me. Only after asked me to write my name and email address for offers.
Did the manicure 1st. Was surprised that she had rimmel products to choose from. It didn't seem proffessional to have these high street brand products to choose from. The colour I wanted ran out so had to choose an alternative. The shaping was nice. The actual painting could've been better. I had to use some remover on the edges of 5 out of 10 digits when I got home. The facial left my skin feeling really soft. It didn't feel like she was very experienced. The lady is hungarian with a very strong accent. When she was describing what she was doing during the facial, as another wahanda member pointed out, she was mumbling and this was distracting. She left the room at least 3 times during the treatment. I thought she could've used the 10mins that she left me for to relax to conduct the massage. I did relax during this time but she was hovering by me, then behind the screen in the room, then walked outside.
She stated that she face mapped my face and wrote the different type areas of my face and tried to sell me some products after. Needless to say I wasn't interested.
She wasn't very friendly. Didn't really try and make much conversation.
I have genuinely never left a bad review in my life as I like to see the positive in everything, but I'm afraid this is the one. I'll start by saying am a qualified therapist, which is probably why this has pressed my buttons.
The location at Covent Garden is great, but within the building itself isn't perfect, walking through offices to get to the treatment room. As someone else has reviewed it's right next to the kitchen so a bit "clattery". The positive side was her facial massage was good, and the products have done their work as you would expect for Dermalogica and she was a pleasant therapist.
The therapist didn't complete any client card, so she had no idea I am pregnant, which did affect the comfort of the treatment. The bed was uncomfortable - I know massage beds well and this was by far the worst I've been on for comfort. The lighting was harsh, and was on, off, on off, as was the music stop, start stop start throughout the treatment which doesn't create the right therapy environment. Also, she had to keep leaving the room for water etc. which she did about 4 times - leaving the room once during a therapy whilst you're relaxing is acceptable, no more. Set yourself up before you get the client, get a boiler, a kettle, whatever you need if you don't have the supply in your room. I question cross-contamination as well using a kitchen sink in an office...she walked into the room as I was getting undressed, no knocking first, with the door open to the office. I'm sure they've seen worse.
The therapist mumbled all the way through the treatment which I guess she was trying to speak softly but it was quite distracting, and when she put my relaxing facial mask on she used that time to then ask me lots of questions, not for me to relax, which is totally unorthadox.
I wasn't covered with a towel, although she asked about 10 minutes into the treatment and I was fine, but more an afterthought. I've had several extraction facials before to get rid of blackheads etc. and, her technique was questionable, I felt like she was going to break my nose, all pressure no technique, and I'm not sure she was using tissue either, just her nails.
It was good value, and the products have done their work, but I won't return - the therapy market is intense right now and there are much better more in tune and thoughtful (in terms of client comfort, wellbeing and ambiance) therapists out there.
The location is excellent, however salon can be a little difficult to find as they are within a business management block. The salon is very small, would only be able to see one client at a time, but that makes it very personable. The therapist is very welcoming and pleasant. She gave an excellent facial and facial massage, and was very knowledgable regarding skin types and recommended products that i could use. This was not a hard sell, as they do not sell products in the salon, so the information was very welcoming. I also had a manicure, and as i didnt want polish the therapist was happy to shape, file and buff my nails. All in all it was a good experience and as they used dermalogica products i thought it was good value for money. I will be returning and have already made a booking for another facial.
The therapist was lovely but everything else was a disaster. The whole session was meant to be 75 minutes (1 hour facial, 15 min manicure). Instead it was 15 mins manicure, 45 mins facial.
Second, the nail polish is all bubbling on every nail. It is the worst manicure I've ever had.
The facial was worse again, she didn't even remove my eye makeup. I went home with black panda eyes. No deep cleanse, no eye treatments, it was literally like being at home cleansing, putting a mask on and moisturising all before work (and not cleaning properly at that). Absolutely horrendous. The only thing that was nice was the therapist herself was very sweet, even if she kept telling me how bad my skin was, like that is supposed to make me feel good.
Rock and Chic Beauty Clinic in Covent Garden has a very high quality. The place is incredible, nice, clean and huge!
I had a facial that left mi skin quite clean and soft, it was a relaxant experience. I had my nails done (they looked beautifully) but this was no so good as the varnish went off in a couple of days.
The therapist was a good proffesional, very nice and approachable.
